Nike T90 Laser III in “Electric Green” Released

Nike T90 Laser III

Nike’s release of the T90 Laser III is gaining some major attention thanks in part to their latest advertising campaign. I just finished watching the Fernando Torres interview that was aired live on Facebook earlier today, with the Spaniard set to be a focal player wearing the new Nike Total 90 Laser III release. He will be debuting the strange colored cleats in this weekends game versus Arsenal, if he is fit to play.

Torres is no stranger to the Total 90 range, and has been wearing them for 5 years now. He is testament to the fact that they are a pretty decent cleat! I have not got to review the Laser III yet, but I have spoke to a few friends who have worn them. The consensus has been pretty consistent; they are a strange looking cleat that perform extremely well. The initial roll-out design comes in a Electric Green/Black/Challenge Red color, a very odd combination. But as we have seen in recent times, odd is popular! My initial thought: watermelon Jolly Rancher!

Nike has completely redesigned this version, with a lot of upgrades from the Laser II. There was a lot of testing that went into its creation! The strike zone now has 5 shape-correcting memory foam pods (red area) that are designed to work together to improve shooting. Surrounding the pods is an area of small raised TPU ridges that are spaced out in a honeycomb shape. The main reason behind having these ridges is to increase control when the ball comes in contact with the cleat. The ridges compact to make for a smooth touch. When striking the ball, they are designed to add extra power and spin on the ball. It is probably pretty minimal, but as the ball leaves the surface of the cleat, the ridges retract to give the ball a slight increase in torque. This, in theory, improves the trajectory of the ball and makes for a better shot. Nike have also redesigned and moved the lacing system, so it is now asymmetrical. This has the bonus of creating a larger strike zone while also allowing you to actually tighten the laces in an easy fashion. Thank you for that one Nike!

One thing that does surprise me about this release is the weight, 11.6oz. The Total 90 Laser II was a similar weight, but with current advancements in design and technology, I would have expected Nike to focus on reducing weight. But I guess they are deemed to be in the same category as the Adidas Predator X and the Puma King. Finally, as an added bonus, when you buy a pair of T90 Laser III’s, you get a unique user-code that allows access to Nike Soccer+ online, where you have the opportunity to be involved in accuracy training drills and expert tuition provided by the Juventus FC the coaching staff. The Nike Soccer+ digital experience also has a coaching session from Fernando Torres of Liverpool FC and you have the opportunity to enter the Torres skill competition.

I am hoping to have a full review real soon, but for now enjoy the pictures and head over to Soccer.com ($199.99) if you want to order yourself a pair, they are officially available to purchase on December 12th. Perfect timing before the Christmas rush!

  1. Do the Total90 laser II, fit just as well in the width as, the new laser III ?

  2. Hey Casper,

There is a difference in fit with the new Total90 Laser III being a little tighter. It is noticeable when you put the cleats on, and it is pretty much related to the redesigned tongue!

  3. I love these cleats!!!

  7. hey bryan

I have a question sice you've try t90 lasers 3 and puma v1.10, i want to know wich boot is better or offers more in the pitch. I mostly play everywhere offensive and deffesive positions but recently i've been playing winger/striker.

Wich boot can get the job done better?

    thanks

    • Justin,
Both cleats have their own unique properties, the V1.10 sits in the speed line, while the T90 Laser III is a power cleat. It depends on what you are looking for. I prefer speed cleats, but after testing both pairs I am more of a fan of the Laser III. This is mainly due to the fit of the V1.10.

  8. its not bad, but can be better off.

  9. yo.
I hear that the laser 3 has grips that absorb water so that when itrains during a soccer match there’ll be no need to change soccer boots because the water causes the grips to grow. Is this true?

  10. i have those t90 shoot 2 and i like them, i tryed t90 laser 3 and they are a bit bether

  11. the cost has been reduced 120$

  12. Hey, would th studs cause a problem on an astroturf?

And which pair is better, th adizero f50 or th t90 laser III?

  13. Hey Bryan,

These boots look amazing the only problem i am facing is whether to get the the tejin synthetic leather or the kangaroo leather option of the boot. Which in your opinion will be more durable and more comfortable in the long run.

    thanks.

  14. These are cool and everything but look at these shoes in negative. they r badass.
