Puma V1.10 SL Released – Puma Redefine Light

Puma v1.10 SL

Out of nowhere, it seems, Puma are releasing an absolute beast of a boot that will officially be the lightest on the market; the Puma V1.10 SL. This boot is set to redefine lightweight, set to weigh in at an incredible 5.3oz…that is a half an ounce lighter than the adizeros! Over the past few months we have become familiar with hype about the Nike Elite and Adidas adizero ranges that have been released on the market but now it is Puma’s turn!

To create the superlight boot, Puma are using a microfiber synthetic upper that is designed with durability in mind. Puma state the upper will be highly resistant to scratches, which I am interested to see in action seeing as the microfiber is ultrathin. To make the boot even lighter, Puma have combined a strong Pebax outsole with a carbon fiber outsole insert.  This will be the test to the comfort level. In order to make the boot breathable the tongue is made of a lightweight mess that allows air to flow through.

The V1.10 SL should be released within the next week, with limited availability. Puma are likely to play off the exposure they will get in order to increase interest. Expect to pay around $250 for a pair (although the list price is $275.)  I am extremely excited to see how these perform. To be honest, I really can’t see Puma matching the comfort seen in the Adidas adizero, which before testing I was also skeptical about. I had problems with the V1.10 during testing, so the SL should be another interesting experience although I am completely open to what they have to offer. To finish, Puma have stated that the V1.10 SL has been designed with one thing in mind – to give you the confidence to be your fastest!

  1. Wow! I didn't think we would see another new boot for months and yet here comes Puma with one that has the potential to compete with the new vaunted adizero in every category but price. I'm interested to see how the boot performs and I also wonder why Puma would release the boot now towards the end of the world cup seems weird to me.

  2. Woah, didn't see that coming!

  3. I dont think that every one will buy this cleat because the adizeros are 50 bucks cheaper and you could probably not even feel the wieght difference between the 2. They probably wanted to wait to see if any major puma sponsors made it to the finals.

  4. interesting…can't wait to see what nike comes out with next

  5. Hey, I just started reading the reviews on this site, and I noticed that you're frequently disappointed by the length of the laces. I hope this doesn't sound like some sort of shameless plug–I assure you I have no affiliation with the following site–but I've founded http://www.lacesforless.com/ to have some of the best laces around, and they come in lengths of up to 132 inches. I've bought several laces for my basketball sneakers as I like having lots of slack left to double-knot my shoes, and companies like Nike usually only leave you enough slack to barely lace them up to the last eyelet (which is a preference of mine on most shoes). I've had no problems whatsoever, and I can confirm that the laces are high quality. Higher quality, even, than the laces that come with most of my sneakers (especially lifestyle sneakers).

Hopefully this posts helps you out a bit. Thanks for the great reviews, keep up the good work!

  6. Whoops, I meant to say "I've found lacesforless" not "I've founded."

Kind of making me look like I actually do have some affiliation with them. A subconscious slip perhaps? Just kidding!

  7. There's a seller selling it on ebay already. Wondered how did that person get his / her hands on the boots.

  8. Is it just me? Or does the Puma stripe seem to be made up of 3 stripes? Hahaha… Anyway, I'm getting my hands on the F50 adizero leather and though this boot is tempting for a 'speed' boot collector like me, the price just puts me off a little. Can't wait for the review. Keep it up!

  9. Hey Brian I love your review they really help me out and I was wondering if you're going t rate the cpa mundial.

  10. When are these cleats available to be bought? I first saw the ad for the new cleats in the latest Eurosport magazine but I am yet to find the cleat anywhere on the website.

  11. IMA stick w/ Mizuno and Will buy Adizero Leather 🙂

  12. Good call Gurshawn. Brian, I would love to have you review the Copa Mundial. I've always been curious what size you wear in Copas because it's a boot that everyone can find locally and use as size comparison to other brands and models. It would also be good to hear how it stacks up after being on the market for nearly 30 years. Oh and what about the PUMA King Classic?

  13. Interesting, and totally out of the blue, but to me the design looks nearly identical to the Adizero synthetics in every aspect.

  14. Yes that would be cool to rate the copas… its the oldest boot out there too… haha jk but itd be interesting 4 sure

  15. @David

How are they anything like the design of the adizeros?

  16. looks like a stripped-down 1.08 ferrari boot…

  17. I think these lack in respect to the adizeros but are the better choice than the superflys. $50 more for half an ounce less come on! has to be the carbon fiber. Plus the adizero has grip n' groove. ought to be an interesting review.

  18. Actually these boots came out before the world cup at the begining of the summer. Well my summer at least. But i was confused at why no internet sights had them up. Btw they cost 200 with a goal club membership on eurosport. I dont think they are $250

  19. They were in my magazine tho. They werent even on the online puma store.

  20. They should be comfortable because the inside is made out of material which can't really give you blisters…my only worry is the how thin it gets at the toes…

  21. By thin I mean narrow by the way:)

  22. anyone know if they're gonna make a leather version available, just like adidas did with the adizero's?

  23. hi there,

i know no one has posted here for a while, but i was wondering if you knew why puma arent making these boots in any size above US 9.5?

    Thanks!

    Rowan
