Puma V1.10 SL Update – 8 Months Later

Puma V1.10 SL AFTER

Since I named the Puma V1.10 SL as my preferred choice of boot last week, several people have asked how my pair have held up over time. So, today I took them out for a quick photoshoot in order to show you what condition they are in. I started testing these cleats in early August of last year, so it has been just about 8 months since their first wear. All in all, they have worked out fantastically well for me. And although they have suffered some wear and tear, they still look like they are in great condition.

You can get a pair of the original release (like the ones picture that I tested) for a great price of $154 right now, while newer versions like the very colorful Fluo Orange version come in at $250.

  1. Bryan can u give this cleats away? If 250 people likes ur status? Please. I want to win some cleats.. Thanks 🙂

    • People really need to stop asking for cleats.

      1) He should really just keep all the cleats he gets. I think it would be great to have such a large collection when you are older, or even now really. Space can be an issue though.
      2) Chances are the person who wins the competition is the one who creates 100 email addresses and makes 100 entries.
      3) Go work and earn some money to buy the cleats you want.

    • Really annoying when people ask for free cleats. Why would he give his favorite pair away? Go buy your own

  2. How are the studs holding up?

  3. Bryan,
8 months… but how often / how many times have you worn them? I think those are more critical information in judging the durability of the boot.

That random circle element on instep, because of its location just in front of the big cat's mouth, reminds me of a hairball.

    • Hide,
Initially I was wearing them 3-4 times a week. Right now I get them out at least once per week, mostly on artificial turf surfaces.

      • Wow, that's definitely worth noting. It has held up very well. Thanks for the info.

      • Perfect comment, exactly what i needed thank you. i have been wanting to get these but nervous as to the durablty of them. i currently ply my trade in the vapors but find them uncomfortable and mediocre but they are durable for a speedy winger like myself,i wish to know what position you play or how hard you push your boots so that i can determine if these are correct for me. Also what are your thoughts on the predator Xs an the upcoming pre kinetic/preds
        Thank You, Spicer

  4. Mine tore in the first practice

  5. I just got me a pair from soccer.com! I added source code 1FS100 and got free shipping also!

  6. Cool! Thanks for the update!

  7. Looking good! It'd be nice to hear about how some other cleats are holding up as well, and how often you use them so a person who plays 5 days a week like me can know next time I'm buying cleats!

    • Brian,
I will definitely try to provide an update where possible – there are only a few pairs that I end up using on a regular basis due to the number of new boots that rotate into testing!

  8. Hey Bryan,

Any word yet on why Puma don't offer these in larger sizes?

  9. They look so comfy for a synthetic boot. Almost looks like soft leather. By the way Bryan, can you try reviewing a pair of Andreas boots (hand made in Italy)? The soft leather puts the adidas copas to shame. They can be a bit hard to get but you can find them online.

  10. What do you use to clean these?

    • soccercleats101

Honestly – I have been using wet wipes! I find them to be very very effective for removing dirt off of synthetic.

  11. What do you use to clean these and get the scuffs off?

  12. Hey Brian, great reviews you have here. My question is if the V1.10 SL are water resistant? I've heard the soft thin microfiber deteriorates rather quickly under wet conditions.

    • I have worn them several times in wet conditions and they have held up well. The upper is a synthetic leather, so it has more waterproof properties than natural leather.

  13. Bryan,
I read your comment saying you've been mostly using the cleats on turf. The high school fields I play on are usually firm ground and occasionally soft ground. I'd like to know your thoughts on if they will get me through my season. It goes from late August to late October. Thanks in advance.

    • Just realized I spelled your name wrong Brian. Sorry about that.

      • Actually I was right the first time I guess and Andrew spelled it wrong. Sorry about all the self comments.

        • They won't be so good on soft ground to be honest, the studs are designed/angled low to the boot and will offer less traction! Go for something with slightly longer studs for firm to soft surfaces.
