As you might be aware, Mizuno soccer cleats are, unfortunately, extremely tough to find here in the US. Since the start of the year, we have been running a petition, “Bring Mizuno to the US“, where we wanted to seek out signatures from players interested in having easier access to Mizuno boots in the US. The response has been amazing and I appreciate all those who signed the petition in support.
About a month ago, we hit the 1,000 signature mark, so I finally started sending the petition details to my Mizuno contacts to demonstrate the point that there is a market here in the US. I have since received a positive follow-up from Mizuno’s Vice President of Brand Marketing and Management that I wanted to share with you. It shows some signs of encouragement!
“We were familiar with the SoccerCleats101 petition, but didn’t realize you had gotten such a great response. Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. It is very encouraging and helpful for us to know. We have decided to start researching a possible market entry here in the US. No promises at this point, but we have put together a small team to study this opportunity to determine if it is viable for our company.”
After last summers World Cup, there was tremendous excitement around the Mizuno brand, and I have since had the opportunity to test the Wave Ignite and the Morelia. For those of you that signed the petition, do you still have a strong interest in having the boots readily available in the US?
If you are interested in getting your hands on some Mizuno gear, your best bet is to search for Mizuno on eBay.
