Adidas F50 adiZero miCoach vs Pele Trinity

F50 adiZero versus Trinity

I have received several emails from readers recently, looking for details on which boot is a better option; the Adidas F50 adiZero miCoach or the Pele Trinity 3E. Both boots offer their own individual set of positive characteristics to the market, so defining which one is “better” is simply unrealistic. Instead, here is our break down of how they compare in several different categories to help you decide which pair is right for you!

For full reviews, check out Adidas F50 adiZero miCoach or Pele Trinity – otherwise, keep reading below!

Upper Close Up

The Uppers – Plenty of choices
You have a choice when it comes to Adidas – either a synthetic or Galeo full-grain leather. Both have been used on previous releases, showing there is some consistency in how they perform. Pele Sports employ an all new Symbioskin upper that is touted to be very durable, with little to no scuffing. Because it is new, it is really untested through the market.

What does this mean in terms of touch? You will notice a great difference between all 3, but from testing both I can tell you that the Trinity feels a lot thinner and you can really feel the ball. This gives you more feel but less protection. My choice for most natural feel goes to the leather F50 adiZero, with the Galeo leather easily molding and shaping around the ball as you connect.

How much do they weigh?
Pele Trinity 5.6oz – Adidas F50 adiZero 6.0oz
The Pele Trinity “wins” in the weight category. I say “wins” because when you hit the lightweight levels seen in these releases, the difference becomes little less than a talking point! Both boots are built for ultimate speed and acceleration but don’t factor your decision solely on which boot is lighter.

How do they fit?
The Adidas F50 adiZero fits very much true to size lenght wise, whereas the Pele Trinity fits long. I normally wear a size 9US, my ideal size in these boots is a 9US in the adiZero and an 8.5US in the Trinity. In terms of width, they offer a very similar fit – medium/wide. For those that need a more narrow fit, Pele Sports has actually released an SL version specifically for you!

Technology Included
This is a category where Adidas win hands down thanks to the inclusion of miCoach performance tracking. The performance chip sits in a cavity in the soleplate and it is designed to track several aspects of you game, including your speed and distance run.

Pele Trinity Stud Configuration

Everything to do with the Soleplate
Adidas stick with their triangular shaped studs on the same SprintFrame that is being used right across their ranges – this shows their confidence in the finished product. Because the miCoach chip sits in a cavity around the midfoot area, there was concerns around comfort. I am happy to report that there are no problems and they feel great from first wear.

But – the Pele Trinity wins out in terms of soleplate innovation! The stud configuration on these boots is absolutely extreme and is one of the focal points of the release. The idea of playing with 3 misaligned studs at the back goes against the norm, you grow up expecting at least 2-4 parallel studs to keep you stable in play. Pele Sports claim that “The extreme position of the rear tripod studs trigger earlier ground contact and stability with high velocity release and the forefoot studs permit excellent traction and explosive acceleration.” I found the configuration to be particularly effective, and my concerns of turning my ankle were unfounded. In fact, I felt more balanced in these shoes than many other pairs on the market.

Price Points
Both boots were released on the market with the same price point of $200 –  a number that seems to be consistent for super lightweight releases at the moment. The only difference is that you will need to fork out extra money to buy the miCoach SPEED_CELL technology, which is in the region of $60.

“So, which one should I buy?
That depends on what you are in the market for. Most players will tend to drift toward the adiZero, simply because Adidas are such an established brand. But realistically, the Pele Trinity is a contender for players who are on the fence; you get a lightweight boot, a newly developed upper material and one of the most unusual stud configurations ever released on a boot! For players that want the ability to take things to the next level and track their game performance, then you will need to pay a little extra for miCoach technology, something that is definitely worth the money.

New + innovative = the Pele Trinity
Tested + Performance based = Adidas F50 adiZero

  1. Almost included a side by side comparison on the review I submitted but with the synthetic adizero II hybrid instead, but I didn't really have enough time to test the adizero out to get a good feel for them. Which boot has more padding around the ankle the adizero micoach or the trinity?

  2. I've read in another review how the trinity has huge durability problems on turf. Have you tried them out on turf or only on grass?

    • I have tested them on both – to date no problems to report, but I will continue to wear them on turf over the next few weeks!

    • I've played 2 games on turf in the pele sports and already notice significant wear on the studs. Nothing has broken or anything like that though. Comfort is also an issue for me.

      • Try cleaning the studs, they might not be as damaged as you think. all it takes is warm water and soap. its easy. I've played many games in them on turf and there is no wear just discoloring that can be washed away.

  3. Is it possible you also do a side by side comparison of the Adipower Predator and the T90 Laser IV?

  4. Nice comparison. There is still another option. It is Mizuno Morelia Neo with 170g(6oz) with K-leather. For me NEO is better than Trinity.

    • too bad Mizuno are hard to get in the states

      • Yes, i know about that Mizuno and US market…
Anyway adiddas doesnt warrant their K-leather if you play them on Turf. Mizuno have their TOP range all in K-leather. In USA almost playground is Turf or AG, so Mizuno afraid about durability(but is only my opinion).
For me Nike Vapor is best on Turf n AG or all syntetic leather cleats 🙂
In EU, we play almost time in FG grass. So cleats are not wear out like when u play almost time in Turf or AG.
K-leather is better option anytime on FG grass. And with Japanese product you always get tech, which surely works.

  5. hmm.. can't really decide based on this… but one thing for sure:
both companies will thank you for your marketing skills and will keep sending you their boots!

    • Well if it helps any the Trinities have materials and a stud design that is more advanced, they also look really sleek and stylish, you also get a very unique cleat that isn't worn by many as of yet so you will get plenty of attention in them, they have also been tested and have proven to faster than any other speed cleat. For the mi coach you have optional performance tracking for additional cost, they are popular and are worn by many, have crazy color ways, have a cleat configuration that has been improved since they first came out and are tried and tested. The adizero cost a tad more too. Personally I think the performance tracking is neat but people don't need a piece of technology to tell them how well they are doing in a game. The trinities have many mixed reviews, some say they work just fine on turf and hold up and others say the opposite, so you are better off getting them if you play on grass a lot. No matter which one you choose you will be satisfied. Hope this input helps.

  6. By the way, second game with the Pele Trinity's and a stud broke. Hopefully Soccer.com will accept them as defective.

  7. Are you using the comfort insole and the mi coach chip? The guy on soccer reviews for you, said those add lots of weight, making it almost 7 oz. I don't care at all for weight but I think you should have mentioned that. Because there are too many people who care for weight.

    • That is referenced in the adizero miCoach review – Adidas only supply a comfort insole with this edition – something that is a major plus for this release! It is much more valuable to have an insole that provides some cushion than less weight. Determining an insole adds "lots more weight" is pretty comical!!

  8. SORRY TO SAY THIS BUT AT RHE BEGINING OF THE REVIEW YOU EITHER FORGOT TO MENTION OR SIMPLY YOU ARE UNINORMED AND THEREFORE NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE FOR BOOT REVIEWS BUT THE PELE TRINITY DOES COME WITH ANOTHER CHOICE AS WELL. NEXT TO THEIR SYMBIO SKIN (THE NEW UPPER) THEY OFFER THE CLASSIC KANGAROO LEATHER. ALSO A LIMITED 80’s NY GRAFITTI THEME BOOT.
