PUMA evoSPEED 1 SL in Jasmine Green Released

Slick New Puma Speed Boot With a Great Look – Ready for me to wear!

This is a release I have been anticipating for a while and it looks like Puma has not disappointed on the finished product – the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL.  We have already had a faux-SL release in the limited edition Ducati, but this boot has a completely different set of features. Is there a more defined speed boot on the market? I’m not sure there is and these are exactly the type of footwear I would expect pacey players to be wearing.

Most importantly, for those interested in a pair, they hit the market at a whopping $274.99 – definitely not the cheapest boot on the market! So, what have they got that give it such a price-tag?

True Lightweight Upper

Take for example the weight, with this version coming in at an ultralight 5.6oz. It has a lot to do with the perforated monolayer microfiber upper, which is designed to offer a very natural feel on the ball. Right through the forefoot, you get a dimpled, slightly textured design, which is not as defined as we have seen on previous versions. This is part of Puma’s attempt to add some extra grip to what is an ultra thin, smooth microfiber upper. And finally, in order to add support, an EverFit cage through the inside of the boot provides additional internal stability.

A Very Suitable Design

Being honest, I’m not a fan of the Jamine Green evoSPEED release, but there is something about the look of this boot that is extremely appealing. The official colorway is listed as a pretty complex Jasmine Green/White/Monaco Blue/Fluo Yellow. The shade of Green has an almost metallic look to it that makes it stand out, and the perforations on the side create a speedy look. I’m definitely a fan!

Versus the V1.11 SL

There are definitely big changes between these and the pretty awesome V1.11 SL release. First, this boot is rounded through the forefoot, and Puma has gone with a straight lace design. You also get a perforated design on this upper, which creates a very unique look. In terms of similarities, you get the same soleplate and heel counter, showing Puma’s confidence in the low profile functionality.

In your opinion, does the upgraded design offer a better look and would you wear a pair?

  1. These are sick!

  2. The stud pattern looks a bit obtrusive

  3. Definitely an upgrade. A small one, but still an upgrade. Wasn't a fan of the old toe box that Puma used to have. The rounded is a lot better.

  4. it looks like it could be a great boot, just dont like the sprite can color way
