What Are Currently the Lightest Soccer Cleats?

Lightweight Boots

It is absolutely incredible to think that when the Nike Superfly was released in March 2009, their 6.8oz was seen to be one the lightest soccer cleats ever released. In a sense, it set the bar for all other companies to compete against in an effort to produce the lightest boots on the market. Well, in the 3.5 years since, the challenge has been met and pretty emphatically at that.

So much so, that we can currently create a top 10 list of boots that all fall under that 6.8oz mark!

Note: there have been a few others in between – this list takes into consideration the boots currently available on the market.

Again, here is a recap of where things stand. As you can see, there is a pretty close battle at the top to be the current leader. It is interesting to note that Puma actually released a 5.4oz boot a few years back in the form of the V1.10 SL, but they have since added some more weight.

1. Pele Sports Trinity (5.6oz)
–  Nike GS Concept (5.6oz)
–  Puma evoSPEED SL (5.6oz)
4. Adidas F50 adiZero (5.8oz)
5. Adidas F50 adiZero Leather (6.0oz)
6. Pele Trinity 3E K (6.3oz)
–  Puma evoSPEED 1 (6.3oz)
8. Nike Vapor VIII (6.5oz)
9. Adidas 11Pro SL (6.6oz)
10. Puma evoSPEED K (6.8oz)

This list represents and illustrates the thorough work companies are placing into research and development, in an effort to produce the lightest boot on the market. There is obviously a performance-to-protection ratio that has to be met through this process. We in no way endorse the idea that lighter is better, but we do applaud companies for their continuing desire to innovate.

And that leads us right into the all important question for you guys:

How light is too light and will releases continue to drop in weight?

  1. Good list except i think you left out the new puma king sl. Im pretty sure they weigh in at 5.8.

  2. I wish they'd continue to drop weight, or release more the same, but with less heel counters. Some heel counters are too big and can get in the way of passes

  3. The new f50s in leather weigh 7 ounces

  4. What about the Mizuno Morelia Neo? At 170grams, its 10 grams lighter than the adidas 11pro sl and the same weight as the Pele Sports Trinity 3E K. And its currently available on the market! So it fits all your requirements.

  5. How about the Adizero Prime?

  6. Actually, the PUMA v1.815 Ferrari…extremely limited edition

  7. I love lightness in a soccer cleat……..even though it can sometimes result in pain, it's worth it.

  8. Sebastian Baez

Hello. Apparently, the Asics DS Light X-Fly MS soccer cleats weigh in at 6.2 ounces. That is extraordinary, and deserves a spot on the list.

  9. Adidas Crazylight ? 4.7oz
