Colorways We Happened to Miss – February Edition

New Colorways

With everything that has been going on over the past few weeks, I have actually skipped past highlighting several new colorway releases – trust me when I say that things have been extra busy.

Yes, I will admit it – this is the lazy approach to updating you on the rest of the colorways that have been released. But, even-so here is a summary post that gives you an introduction to the excluded colorways that have hit the market since the turn of the year, with a short guide to what you can expect from each.

If you have a particular favorite, let me know in the comment section below – I would prefer not to skip over the releases that mean most to you guys!

Mizuno Wave Ignitus 2 White Blue

What’s With This Colorway?

Another clean and almost colorway that offers an extremely familiar look to it, since exploding onto the scene during the 2010 World Cup, the globally-recognised Wave Ignitus football boot series has been fashioned by the likes of Japan’s Keisuke Honda. The Wave Ignitus has become famous for its revolutionary Mukaiten Panel on the medial side of the boot, adding lethal precision to set pieces. Unfortunately, we still don’t have clear access to Mizuno boots in the US, but for those interested in reading a review, here is where you will find the Mizuno Ignitus 2 review.

Model:
Mizuno Wave Ignitus 2
Colorway:
Pearl/Blue/Black

Puma King Black

What’s With This Colorway?

This colorway was actually part of the debut round of releases for the new 2013 edition of the Puma King. We are familiar with traditional colorways in the King series, and this version offers the kind of visuals we expect, except this latest version of the boot has been modernized to keep pace with other releases on the market. This is the type of release that could determine the specific direction Puma decides to head with the King series. Check out the other latest release in Black/Puma Silver.

Model:
Puma King 2013
Colorway:
Black/White/Ribbon Red
Release Date:
January 2013

Puma PowerCat

What’s With This Colorway?

The PowerCat 1.12 has maintained a pretty consistent bill of health since their introduction in October 2011, and this colorway is about as standard as you can get. It is the Jasmine Green that adds the slight extra pop to the upper, with the 3D Power Shooting containing both detailing colors. Personally, I find this to be an average release on a boot that is starting to look a little dated and in need of a revamp. Here is where you can find the PowerCat 1.12 review.

Model:
PUMA PowerCat 1.12
Colorway:
Black/Jasmine Green/Monaco Blue
Release Date:
January 2013

Asics DS Lite

What’s With This Colorway?

Asics has jumped right into the lightweight market with a 7.2oz design that features a K-Leather upper and high comfort performance. Well, the latter is according to Asics and they are standing by the fact that this boot combines this feature for comfort on a super-light weight speed shoe better than any other company. What a bold statement. Well, even if the performance is there, Asics has to be concerned with the less than powerful interest both colorways have received.

Model:
Asics DS Light X-Fly
Colorway:
White/Deep Blue/Lime and Black/Lime/Deep Blue
Release Date:
January 2013

Diadora Evoluzione Silver

What’s With This Colorway?

Diadora has a serious knack of releasing odd and quirky colorways. This one is no different, yet there is something about these that makes them work. They almost have a matte finished, painted wall effect with some Yellow Flash to really complete the look. The Evoluzione itself is a pretty positive release, you do get an unusual design, but at least Diadora continue their trend of comfortable boots. This version features a very supple K-leather upper and weights in at 9oz. Here is where you will find the Diadora Evoluzione review.

Model:
Diadora Evoluzione K
Colorway:
Silver/Match Winner/Black
Release Date:
January 2013

Umbro GT2 Neon Yellow

What’s With This Colorway?

This is the second of Umbro’s latest releases post Nike and there is a definite theme behind both releases. I am not quite sure whether Umbro really want to differentiate themselves from the market or if they simply want to send a message that they are still around. Either way, this is a bold statement colorway and although I don’t anticipate it will sell very well, I do think Umbro are smart to push their branding with an illuminating boot. Note, I wouldn’t wear this colorway if you paid me! Also check out the Neon Green/Neon Orange colorway.

Model:
Umbro GT2 Pro
Colorway:
Neon Yellow/Black/Cyan Blue
Release Date:
February 2013
