What is New About the Adidas F50 adiZero Samba?

Samba Collection - F50-adiZero

Along with a new vibrant set of colorways, Adidas made some modifications to their line-up of boots. It is something we frequently see them do, as they look to improve overall performance and stay updated with the ever changing requirements of the game.

Each boot has been given its own color treatment and the level of modification varies by boot. But there is one in particular that has undergone a radical redesign – the F50 adiZero.

Just to note here, we will be referring to this F50 adiZero as the “Samba” version for simplicity, even though that is not the direct naming convention used by Adidas. They are available in a Solar Blue and a Solar Zest colorway – both available for around $200.

Messi in new F50 adiZero

When the best player in the world wears your boots, there is a high level of expectations toward their performance, but there is also a major plus – you have the best player in the world wearing your boots! Having the opportunity to receive feedback from Messi has allowed Adidas to alter several key components to create a more progressive boot. In fact, the changes are pretty extreme and are sure to offer a completely different experience in game.

Here are the new features you can find on the boot, as depicted in the image below.

Dribbletex – A raised pattern on the Vamp designed to improve ball contact in dry and wet conditions.

Speedfoil – A revolutionary material that combines lightweight, softness and durability for a comfortable, yet locked down heel fit.

Speedtraxion – An all new, high speed stud alignment for maximum acceleration and pinpoint changes in direction.

Sprintskin (a single layer synthetic) and SprintWeb technology through the forefoot has been removed and Adidas has switched to using Hybridtouch – the same material found on the Adidas Predator LZ. It is another bold move that really moves this boot and silo into another dimension. Personally, I find the new stud configuration to be the big talking point and I can’t help but wonder if Robin van Persie’s feedback played a role in Adidas rethinking the placement and shape of each blade. It is on-field where we will really find out and will have a full review available very soon.

The two colorways of the F50 Samba – a Solar Blue and a Solar Zest – are both available for around $200.

  1. Its hybrid touch on the forefoot with dribbletex layered on top that's why there is fake leather grains like on the lz

  2. how would you sum up the differences between sprintskin and hybridtouch?

  3. As a LFC fan, i watch Suarez alot and he continuously falls down. Curious to see if the new stud configuration minimizes slippage. The F50 studs should have been on a slight angle outwards (they were too straight). Be interesting to see if they’ve improved traction.

  4. Do you know if Adidas will release an AG version of these? They seem to have gotten away from releasing a lot of AG boots like they were doing a few yrs ago.

  5. Why is there a small raised cleat or bump in the very front of the cleat? I ordered these for my daughter. She likes them but now hoping that it is legal.

  6. Has anyone bought a pair and feel the orange is too bright compared to marketing photos?

  7. When will the review be happening for these? Seems like the timing on reviews has slowed down over the past year. This is one of if not the biggest releases in a while. Sure would be nice to see the m tested ASAP since many view this site for guidance. Let’s go! Love the site.

    • Finishing the adiPure 11Pro review today and working on an intro video + review of the adiZero, which will both be up before the weekend! Making sure the finite details are correct for both.

  8. For those think of getting these in leather.

Bought a pair of the leather version and pretty tight in the mid foot cos the leather cuts out in the mid of the shoe. Also the the orange suede material inside of the boot wears out too quickly.

I then bought a pair of the synthetic leather and was surprised how comfortable they fit on my wide feet.
