Two Slightly Unusual Boots to Check Out

We get lots of requests from companies to check out their boots and we rarely turn them down. Not only is this because we love sharing valuable info with readers, but we also see huge benefit in educating ourselves about boots and what they have to offer. Even though they might not sell in large quantities, small companies can something produce new and unexpected additions that gives us a better understanding of what does and does not work.

Case in point these two pairs that arrived in recently from very unusual sources. Both feature a very quirky look and I’m guessing about 90% of you have not heard of either brand before today.

The first comes from a very small, new company called Just Play Cleats and their goal is simple. Started by former University of Michigan player Cam Cameron, the brand intends to provide quality, affordable boots to players who don’t want to be a billboard for the top brands; “Be your own brand.” They are definitely a boot built to be durable, with plenty of stitching adding a finished look to the tank like forefoot. There is a slight texture difference between the different regions on the forefoot, but both are still pretty slick.

Then there is a pair that arrived in from Thailand, and a company called PAN. Pan are a leading South East Asia brand that delve into multiple categories with a strong emphasis on mimicking productions from the top brands. In other words, they take from what is working on the market and add their own spin on it. There boots are only available in Thailand and a few countries in South East Asia at this point, so you are not likely to find any pairs Stateside. Still, if you are ever on a trip and find yourself holding a pair, a review might be useful, right!

With that, we are going to put both boots through their paces to see what they have to offer. Both definitely have unique visual appearances, so it will be interesting to see how they perform on pitch. It shouldn’t prove too difficult to wrap out the Pan review pretty quickly considering our contact stressed the point they are intended solely for use on SG surfaces –  and we are definitely not short of SG surfaces with current weather across the country!
