Gareth Bale Debuts the Adidas Crazylight in Style!

adizero Crazylight Bale

Gareth Bale grabbed two assists and a solid player rating while debuting the Adidas adiZero f50 Crazylight in Champions League action last night. Real Madrid won 3-1 on the night versus Schalke and a whopping 9-3 over both legs, but it was definitely Bale’s boots that stood out in the second leg.

At a phenomenally lightweight 4.7oz, it is 20% lighter than the previous adizero F50 and becomes the lightest soccer cleat ever released to market. Following on from the mind boggling “concept” launch of the adizero 99g (3.4oz) boot last year, adidas used some of the innovation on those boots to decrease the weight of the current range. Dropping things to 3.4oz would be extreme and it is a case of step-by-step before they get to that level.

Visually, the boots definitely have a serious pop to them, and the Slime/Black flash combo definitely does make for some blurry viewing as Bale blasted by players through the game. Obviously visuals have a lot to do with this release, but it is the technology included and the fact that adidas has dropped below the 5oz weight mark for the first time that really sets them apart. I’m not about to get caught up in the design, this one is about advancement and a new level of performance.

In terms of availability, you can pick them up starting today at adidas.com.

Prior to the game, Bale even treated us to a very personal, but slightly creepy, picture of him with his boots in his car. If I was getting custom boots like this I would do the very same, although I probably wouldn’t have them sitting out like that as I drove to the game!
