Nike Mercurial “Fast Forward” – The Complete Collection

Nike Vapor IX 10M

Over the past few weeks, Nike has gradually introduced us to a unique new series of boots they labelled the “Fast Forward” collection, as they step up their preparation for this summers World Cup in Brazil. The series takes some of the more iconic Nike Mercurial releases of the past and places their look on the current Nike Mercurial Vapor IX.

Over the past few seasons, players have requested a return of some of the best boots of the past, with these releases Nike somewhat answer those calls. With current advancements in boot technology and performance, transferring the look to the advanced Vapor IX makes a lot more sense. And, we personally applaud the end results produced with each version.

For those that want to check out release details for each boot, here’s where you can find each. For the rest of you, hit up the summary details down below, and let us know in the comments if you have a particular version that takes your fancy.

The final installment came via the Vapor IX ’10 release (seen up top), which was a focal feature at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The Mach Purple release claimed plenty of positive attention on the worlds biggest stage, with technology at a max. Flywire and the retractable front stud provided a unique type of performance, although I’m not about to call it good. A similar coat on the Vapor IX looks just as sharp, with the added bonus of quality in-game performance!

Nike Vapor IX 98M

The entire collection kick started with the Vapor IX ’98 edition, as we saw several of the world top players wear at the World Cup in France ’98. The visual appearance hasn’t received top recommendations from players and Nike didn’t hype this one anywhere as much as the other releases, but it is definitely as unique as they come. A very vibrant green forefoot fades gradually into a blue heel, with bright pops of orange detailing throughout.

Nike Vapor IX 02M

Back in 2002, Ronaldo (R9) was playing some of his best soccer ever and graced the pitches of South Korea/Japan in a flashy pair of chrome Mercurial Vapor R9. Ronaldo won Golden Shoe during that tournament as the top scorer with eight goals. Subtle graphic references on the Vapor IX ’02, colors and prints combine with modern materials and innovation to celebrate the boot’s legacy of speed while commemorating a magical summer tournament for Ronaldo and the Mercurial.

Nike Vapor IX 06M

If you were to gauge the releases based on visual popularity, this Vapor IX ’06 edition easily wins the battle. The 2006 edition took center stage in Germany and graced the feet of players such as Ronaldo (R9) and Ronaldo (CR7). It was the only time both players played on the big stage at the same time. Seeing as this years tournament is in Brazil, the colorway and combo of Yellow into a Green heel seems very fitting and a perfect tool to wear if you a current Brazilian Vapor endorser!
