World Cup Boot Recap Day 3 – Costa Rica Superflies to Upset

Here we are, three days complete, and only three heart attacks for those trying to correctly predict every scoreline. The main storyline of the day saw the under appreciated Costa Rican “los ticos” take out a Suarez-less Uruguayan squad. The Lotto sponsored squad pulled off what is surely the shock of the tournament so far.

Costa Rica Victorious in Superfly

Thanks to a goal and an assist from Joel Campbell, Costa Rica stole the show on day 3 of the world cup. Boosting Nike’s stance in the boot scoring standings was another plus to draw from the victory. Thanks to this result, group D is now wide open. I’ve also included a picture of the whole Costa Rican team following the victory. Can you spot some rarer boots in the 2nd picture? Colombia uses Instincts to prevail over Greece

It was a full battle pack affair as Colombia shut-out the Greeks 3-0. The Predator Instincts gained a few points on the goal table as Armero and James found the back of the net. A header goal from F50 wearing Teo rounds out the scoring. As far as interesting boot spots go, there were several players sporting the Earth Pack colorways from Adidas. Does this mean they dislike the battle pack, or merely prefer cleats they’ve had for a longer time? That’s a question only they can answer.

Puma’s Italy prevails over Nike’s England

The highly anticipated England-Italy match delivered from a neutral and Italian perspective, but left English fans thinking they deserved more. Thanks to the head of Puma Tricks wearing Balotelli, Italy pulled ahead in the 50th minute and never looked back. From a boot viewer’s perspective, the Mizuno Moriela on Thiago Motta’s feet stuck out above the rest.

 Mizuno Led Japan Misses Opportunity

In the final match of the day, it all looked good for the Japanese side until a certain Chelsea ex-star by the name of Didier Drogba entered the pitch in his Nike Superflies. Two quick goals that looked identical to the untrained eye proved to be the difference on the scoreline, but not enough can be said about the offensive impact of Drogba. For boot fans, the Japanese squad always gives us something to look at. Honda was sporting the custom Mizuno Wave Ignitus, and Okazaki wore Mizuno’s newest boot, the Basara.
