The Bite Heard Round the World

We know the history, we know the discipline handed down in the past. Did Suarez just complete the hat-trick of bites? Check the picture of Cheilinni below, and let us know what you think. In terms of goal scoring and boot spotting, Diego Godin salvaged a goal for Puma on a day that saw the exit of one of their main goal scorers – Mario Balotelli.

Late Penalty Sees Greeks Through

The Greeks picked a tough day to stun the world with a stoppage time equalizer. With all the talk of Suarez’s diet, the Greeks stunner kind of fell by the way-side. A last second penalty by Giorgos Samaras tallied another goal for the Vapor X, and sent another of Puma’s main men – Yaya Toure packing. Wilfred Bony score the lone goal for Ivory Coast, and did so wearing a pair of SG Mercurial Vapor IX‘s.

Colombian Break out Party

Jackson Martinez and James Rodriguez will become household names before the end of the tournament, and this game was a perfect example why. Martinez scored a brace, and James Rodriquez scored a Messi-esque last minute goal to down the Japanese. In the boot world, the main story may in fact be thanks to the tournament’s oldest player: Faryd Mondragon. Faryd trotted out for the end of the match in a pair of Adidas Copa Mundial‘s. Can you spot them in the second picture?

Costa Rica Seals Group D

If Greece had a hard time getting coverage, then many may not have even known this game actually happened. With Costa Rica only needing a draw to top the group, not much can be said about this 0-0 tie. In what was surely the opposite of many predictions, group D ended Costa Rica, Uruguay, Italy, England. With no goals, and many players sportting Nike and Adidas’ World Cup boots the only thing to mention is the continued presence of Lotto Solista‘s on Costa Rica’s bench.

With the group stage all but behind us, the boot table has really taken shape. Mizuno completed their hat-trick thanks to Okazaki’s strike for Japan. Take a look at the latest numbers below.
