What Were Those Boots Christian Atsu Was Wearing?

Atsu Boots

Last weekend, we received several questions from fans wondering what kind of boots Christian Atsu wore in the Everton vs Arsenal game. The Ghana international was sporting some sort of custom design boots, and in play it was pretty impossible to tell what they were.

Of course, we have an answer! In what was most definitely a “do it yourself” job, Atsu took a pair of Nike Merurial Superfly IV, spray painted them with a shade of dark silver and took a scissors to the dynamic cut collar. Why he didn’t request a pair of NikeID boots is beyond us, especially since he wore Superfly boots at the World Cup this summer. It is sure to be somehow related to not having a full Nike endorsement deal, so he is attempting to hide the brand.

Anyone else brave enough to do something like this to their boots?
