Nike Magista Gets the Hyper-Turquoise Treatment

Magista Obra Profile Lateral

We already posted about the recently released Champions League pack from Nike, but one boot worth highlighting for its on pitch appearance is the Magista Obra. To date, players such as Mario Gotze and David Luiz have been wearing the new Hyper-Turquoise color of the Magista – a style that redefined how football boots look and perform.

We have already tested the Magista for those that want more information on the boots performance, but to summarize they are about as advanced as any boot we have ever seen with a high level of comfort through wear. The use of Flyknit, something Nike has taken across from its running shoes, makes for an intriguing prospect and ultimately provides a totally different type of performance to any other boot ever released. Not only does the boot feature a unique identity, but the overall weight is an extraordinary 7.2oz, leaving them in the lightweight category and adding to the value of the package.

The Magista Design

A result of four years of testing and looking like nothing which has ever seen the boot market before. The silhouette of the Magista is the first thing that hits me when I look at the boot. Despite all the modern upgrades in modern football boots, and the incredible touch offered by K-Leather boots, Nike has looked to take their development in a completely different direction. Nike’s VP of Sport Performance Footwear Phil McCartney explains;

With Magista, we’ve designed a shoe that feels like an extension of the player’s body. This isn’t a boot that just goes on your foot, it’s a boot that works with your foot, by eliminating distractions, players are free to unlock their potential and creativity.

The party piece of the design is the Dynamic Fit collar, the cut of which is designed to allow the foot, ankle, and lower leg to work in unison, and move naturally.

Obviously, fit is another major talking point, since so many people have different shapes and sizes that need to slip into the same size. I can officially tell you that they are very much true to size, and this is an area you won’t need to worry about too much. In terms of length, there isn’t a great deal of room left at the top of the boot once you get them on, while width wise they start out as a medium/wide fit. After several wears, the upper material has adjusted ever so slightly, and I imagine wider fits won’t feel too much discomfort thanks to the stretchy feel but they definitely don’t offer a loose fit if that is what you require.
