If there’s one thing we know about David Moyes’ Spanish Adventure, it’s that despite the language barrier he’s clearly making friends with the supporters in San Sebastián. Entering his third month as Real Sociedad manager he’s won 3 of his 11 matches in charge of the Basque club, which is good enough to sit the club 12th in La Liga. As bad 3 wins from 11 sounds keep in mind two things, the first he’s only lost 2 matches (1 in the league), and second he bested the Messi and Friends super team to kick off the new year. So, yeah, he’s a pretty popular man in the Basque Country.
However, in the 2-2 draw with Villarreal, a match which saw Sociedad eliminated from the Copa Del Rey on aggregate; this relationship took a confectionery related turn. Banished to the stand for an excellent Mr. Magoo impression in protest of a simply terrible offside call. Our intrepid hero fearlessly scaled a pitch-side fence to sit with his people… and accept their snacks!
Manchester was wrong about you Davie, you’re a class act!
