Up Close – The Best Adidas X15 Colorway Yet?

X15 Whiteout

Since their initial introduction to the market, each colorway in the adidas X15 series seems to have got better and better. One of the latest, and our preferred to date, comes in this extremely clean Whiteout colorway. The fact that they feature a metallic silver side panel might demote them from being an official Whiteout release, but we are not going to dwell on that. Instead, we wanted to bring you some images of complete “Chaos” and simple details of what you can expect should you splash out on a pair.

Currently available from soccer.com.

When we talk about the metallic silver color, we are referring to the X-CAGE that sits on the side of the boot. As per above, you can see how it shimmers as it catches lights in different directions. With a speckled effect, it really does stand out with dramatic effect.

The adidas X15.1 features several technical innovations, which all feature the letter X. The reinforced X-CAGE is obviously a key element and is designed to keep an adequate balance between a lightweight boot and one which offers the support a player needs on the pitch.

The Techfit Collar sits slightly higher than a normal ankle line cut, with the purpose of providing a more secure and snug fit around that region. It is not intended to create an “as one” fit with your leg. Instead, it simply secures the fit and ensures the boot is tight in the right spots.

Important to note, the material has plenty of stretch to it and it is very soft, so there is no concern at all with discomfort. No matter the size of your ankle, as long as you can get your foot into the boot, it will provide a secure fit. I personally see this as a positive addition to the boot market and what adidas has on offer.

Adidas X15 Soleplate

They also feature an X-SKIN synthetic upper that offers up a veritable triple threat of softness, fit, and ball grip. Adidas employ a treatment known as Non-Stop Grip (NSG), which aids ball control regardless of weather conditions.

When it comes to traction and soleplate, you get the a super funky looking X-CLAW system sitting on the eXoframe. It’s purpose is simple: offer premium grip on both FG (firm ground) and AG (artificial) pitches. The bold decision by adidas to create an AG/FG boot took serious consideration and research, but in hindsight it makes complete sense. The X-CLAW base is built to give complete traction with a lightweight feel.

Are they really the best looking pair of X15 released to date?

The answer to that really comes down to personal interpretation and whether or not you play in wet, muddy conditions! I’m a huge fan of the look and rate them as one of the best looking whiteout releases in recent times. And even though I wouldn’t dare to wear them on a muddy pitch, I do appreciate the durable design and quality of the materials employed throughout.

Where would you guys rate this colorway compared to the adidas X15 series to date?
