Adidas Copa SL Released – Limited Collection

Adidas Copa SL

Copa Mundial fans; I’m not sure whether to tell you to get excited or look away for a few days as adidas add an intriguing boot to their Limited Collection. Today, the adidas Copa SL was officially released to market. This is a re-imagined modern twist on what is probably the most iconic boot ever released to market.

In order to turn it into a super lightweight, most of the signature pieces of the original Copa have been stripped back. A sleek black, ultra-thin synthetic leather is employed through the upper replacing the iconic k-leather, while underfoot you will find a lightweight SprintFrame outsole. It is the visual design elements where adidas has retained similarities. The white tongue and three white stripes pay homage to the original model whilst contributing to the boot’s more modern look.

When speaking about the creation of the boot, Sam Handy, VP of design, said:

When we looked at recreating a classic boot, the COPA Mundial was the stand out option. The brand has a huge depth of heritage in our back catalogs but this is the boot that stood out above the rest. Redeveloping this classic icon was a rewarding project that allowed us to add a modern take on a true football icon. We’re fiercely proud of the Mundial but wanted to inject a new twist on the boot – something I can proudly say we’ve achieved with the COPA SL.

As part of the Limited Collection, the Copa SL is an exclusive boot that will be released in limited quantities to show adidas’ flair, innovation and creative spirit. What do you guys think of this style design and would you be interested in owning a pair?

  1. Design is awesome but disappointed they went synthetic. If they went more the Puma King SL route and made a super lightweight leather boot, I'd be slightly tempted. Synthetic boots just never feel right personally. No complaints at all in the looks department though!

  3. trying to figure out if i should get these or the Puma kings Limited edition Euro 2016, im a big fan of Puma, but im not sure if i should switch to addidas ( my outdoors are currently addidas predator). any review for the Puma king euro version?

    • Let me tell you, if I may, both are different boots while adidas copa mundial sl are modern and NO leather boots, the puma king euro version are classic style and K-LEATHER cleats (they are true to size shoes). I suggest you to think about durability and comfort and of course budget!! In my case, I would go for the puma king although I am a big fan of adidas. Thanks!!
