Nike MagistaX Proximo II – The Colorways Released To Date!

Since their introduction to the market, player feedback on the MagistaX Proximo series has been incredibly positive. An extremely responsive upper is matched with a new fit ankle collar to provide perfect fit and balance for indoor and street play. MagistaX is expressly designed for advanced level playmakers. To further facilitate swift movements, Nike introduces an advanced traction and cushioning system (featuring a full-length Lunar midsole) specifically crafted for small-sided surfaces.

“With this shoe we have pushed the boundaries of engineering Flyknit so that it helps stimulate your feet as they come into contact with the ball,” says Max Blau, VP of Nike Football Footwear.

To date in the series, there have been 3 different colorways released; Heat Map, Blackout, and Heritage White. We have all 3 in hand and thought it would be worth offering some details on the visuals, with some additional performance talk on our preferred version.

Nike Magistax Proximo Original Heatmap

Upper Colorway: Volt/Total Orange/Pink Blast
Soleplate: Volt/Black
Current Retail: $129.99

The introductory colorway in the series was intended to showcase Nike development through the use of a heatmap style design. It really is unlike anything we’ve seen before, with a vibrant array of colors sitting across the forefoot and through the instep of the upper. Nike tackled the concept of “sensory amplification through feel.” Basically what that means is they were looking to find the areas of the foot most sensitive to touch and mapped them against high-touch zones.

Nike Magistax Proximo Black

Upper Colorway: Black/Black
Soleplate: Gum Light Brown
Current Retail: $119.99

The second colorway released in the series features a much more basic upper paint job. Nike has gone with a simple blackout, providing players with something less flashy and more business ready. In reality, they are the perfect option if you want an everyday street shoe option. Those familiar with old school indoor shoes such as the Lanzero Mondiale IN will be able to identify with the iconic gum rubber colored sole.

Nike Magistax Proximo Heritage White

Upper Colorway: White/Challenge Red/Hyper Blue
Soleplate: White/Hyper Blue
Current Retail: $174.99

The latest colorway in the series comes with a very unique story. Released as part of the Nike Heritage pack, this ultra clean design has been inspired by the iconic Air Max 180. In similar fashion to the black colorway, the Heat Map design does not play a part on the upper. There is a very patriotic theme to the colors employed, with the swoosh appearing in Blue and a layer along the heel counter in Red.

Since they are the most recent release in the series, we wanted to take a closer look at what is on offer. In similar fashion to the firm ground Magista Obra, this is the best boot for striking a shot that has hit the market since the Nike T90 Laser series was retired; they are seriously that good. You get such a natural level of feel and touch on the ball, with the benefit of an upper material that allows you to really strike solidly.

Then there is the more anatomically contoured Dynamic Fit Collar, designed to accommodate the shape of the ankle bone while leveraging a thicker knit structure for additional coverage. The revamped collar also dips lower on the Achilles tendon for an added level of comfort, much improved over other Nike mid cut collar boots.
