evoSPEED + evoTOUCH = PUMA ONE

Puma ONE 17.1 FG

It is one of those unspoken aspects to the new Puma ONE release, but in order to take it to market another boot had to bow out. In fact, Puma went a step further and made a more radical change by retiring both the evoSPEED and evoTOUCH silos. In reality the latter, evoTOUCH, never really got a look in the market and turned out to be more of a testing ground for this current release. Oppositely, many were surprised to see the popular evoSPEED retired, but it became a silo dogged with durability issues.

So, what has Puma looked to achieve with the ONE?

Well, first it was about creating a more balanced shoe that mixed lightweight performance with total comfort. You can see where they have taken the evoFIT knitted collar from the evoTOUCH and toned it down to be more versatile. It fits real well around the ankle and creates a connected feel between foot and boot. Visually, the upper is reminiscent of a leather evoSPEED release, with cross stitching providing a classic look on the leather forefoot.

Puma ONE FG Soleplate

Underfoot is where things are very different, with Puma creating a much more streamlined soleplate. The studs used are a lot thinner than other boots currently on the market and they are well spread out. What you end up with is a boot that performs fantastically well on AG and FG surfaces. If there is one aspect that needs to be highlighted it is how dynamic the traction system is.

We have more details to cover on the Puma ONE over the coming weeks, including fit, how they feel around the ankle, and overall durability. What you need to know is that they are surprisingly solid, one of my favorite on foot boots of 2017. Not quite won over by the aesthetics, but Puma has done a good job piecing them together. Until the review, if you have any pressing questions leave them below!

  2. Puma 1 vs Mizuno Rebula vs Nike Tiempo 7 – which do you prefer?

    • Wow, that is a hard hitting question! I enjoyed all 3 for different reasons; I'd have to say these surprised me more in a positive way than the others, but he Rebula is the best from Mizuno in a while and the Tiempo 7 takes that silo up a level!

  3. Your blog is for me a source of valuable information .
