adidas X Tango 17+ Purespeed IN – Feature Review

adidas X Tango 17+ Purespeed IN

I’m not going to lie; the adidas X Tango 17+ Purespeed IN has quickly jumped to the top of my shoe options for small sided court play! Why? Well, first off these are specifically built for the next level of speed, making them an ideal option for players looking to show their quick feet on the street or court.

Visually, the Clear Grey/White/Grey colorway is extremely easy on the eye. adidas has incorporating a multi-dimensional, knit style design with clean colors to enhance its impact. The negative lies in the fact they are not likely to stay white for very long, but that adds to initial charm of owning a pair.

Performance wise, they meet and exceed general expectations of what you’d expect from a court style shoe. On harder surfaces, you need the reliability of appropriate traction and a little extra bounce underfoot to reduce impact. adidas deliver with a defined traction system that keeps you level footed in the right situations.  While playing court or street, you don’t expect to play against players using studs or blades. So, your only real concern with the upper lies in the category of touch and feel. Adding a dimensional texture to the upper material enhances touch, and they feel above average when it comes to striking shots.

When it comes to laceless shoes, they really don’t come much better. adidas has done a great job here, and I’ve found myself recommending these boots over similar Nike and Puma styles. They are spot on with a snug fit and a clean strike zone that can only enhance player confidence on the ball in tight situations.

In order to create that fit, adidas use an Adaptive Techfit upper that wraps around the foot and provides enough compression to enhance the laceless fit. Oh, how I love Techfit. From experience, there isn’t much chance of them sliding off your foot unless you have a super narrow profile and usually fall out of laced boots!

On the heel, an “S curve” cut helps relieve pressure on the Achilles and aids in keeping your foot locked in all game long. There is a natural contour that rolls up along the shape of your heel and provides a comfortable fit. We have seen this style used on the FG version of Pureagiity and there hasn’t been any consistent negative feedback. It fits about as naturally as you could expect it to.
