Who doesn’t love a good special edition boot? As brands continue to evolve and fight for market attention, more and more signature, limited edition releases are being released. Some are available on the market, while others are specific to players only. Either way, they are pretty spectacular to look at and even more impressive when worn by the world’s best players on pitch.

Here is our list of the best 10 most spectacular special edition boot releases of 2017.

No. 10 – Nike Mercurial Superfly Carli Lloyd

Limited To: Created specifically for Carli Lloyd only.

Details: Fresh off being named the 2016 women’s world player of the year, Nike presented Carli Lloyd with a pretty nifty pair of Custom Mercurial Superfly boots. Lloyd, who has a nine-year legacy as a Nike athlete, was given freedom of expression in creating the boots, adding text across the Blue Lagoon, Wolf Grey and Silver upper. [more details]

Sergio Ramos Corazón y Sangre Tiempo

No. 9 – Nike Tiempo Ramos Corazón y Sangre

Released: December
Limited To: 4,000 pairs worldwide.

Details: In recognition of his many achievements, Sergio Ramos joins the likes of Ronaldinho, Totti and Pirlo in receiving his own limited edition Nike Tiempo boots. Dubbed “Corazón y Sangre,” (heart and blood), the boots pay homage to the Spanish footballer’s values and roots. His affinity for white Andalusian horses inspired the pearl leather colorway and for the first time we are introduced to the new SR4 logo. No. 8 – Diadora Match Winner Roberto Baggio

Details: The return of a legendary boot for a legendary player; the Match Winner Roberto Baggio Italy OG. The original version of the shoe was used by the great Diadora champions of the past, created entirely in Italy. Small tweaks have been made to this latest version to enhance the boots quality and ensure it suits both the most sophisticated of players and the changing technical needs of modern-day football. No. 7 – Nike Mercurial Vapor “Puro Fenomeno”

Limited To: Standard market release.

Details: What type of boot do you get when you cross boots for Ronaldo and Neymar Jnr? The Mercurial Puro Fenomeno borrows aesthetic cues from the Superfly II that Neymar wore on his debut for the Brasil National Team and pays paying homage to Ronaldo’s original Mercurial boots. Details: With the FUTURE 18.1 receiving a ton of positive reaction from fans right now, Puma has released a special edition version in celebration of Antoine Griezmann. With full conceptual control over graphics and color, Grizi went to work creating his own disruptive, eye catching design. Some of the signature features of the boots include a custom camo that appears on the upper and outsole of the boot, created from the silhouettes of his home city of Màcon. Wild cat’s eyes across the forefoot so that when he looks down on them, it inspires his inner instinct. Details: This is the one boot on the list that wasn’t released for a signature player, but they definitely deserve their spot. Featuring a snakeskin-embossed kangaroo leather upper atop a metallic rose gold cleat plate, this version of the Copa Mundial 17 was released as part of a unique collaboration between adidas and Kith. Mercurial CR7 Melhor

No. 4 – Nike Mercurial CR7 Melhor

Limited To: Created specifically for CR7 only.

Details: In acknowledgement of being named 2017 FIFA Men’s Player of Year, Nike created a very special edition boot for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Mercurial CR7 Melhor. In Portuguese, Melhor means “best”. So that you are not confused, this boot builds upon Ronaldo’s super colorful Chapter 5 boot, featuring the same rainbow Flyknit effect on the upper of the boot. Adding to the visual effect, a pure platinum finish is added to the CR7 logo and a slick chrome finish is placed on soleplate. The boots also feature a unique 3D-reflective treatment on the Swoosh that will shine under the lights. No. 3 – Nike Tiempo Legend SE Totti

Details: In order to honor the legend that is Francesco Totti and his 25 year reign at AS Roma, Nike released a limited edition boot called Tiempo Totti X Roma. A spectacular gold leather upper is complimented with some subtle black detailing on the tongue, collar and a prominent Totti text emblazon on the heel. And to finish off a signature Totti’s look, the same large over-flap tongue with strap he wore throughout his career is included to secure the laces.

adidas Predator Accelerator DB

No. 2 – adidas Predator Accelerator DB

Limited To: “Limited Collection”

Details: If you are going to celebrate one of your most iconic partners, this is an incredible way to do it! adidas, with the help of David Beckham, created a collection to celebrate the over two-decades of partnership between them. Included was a remastered version of the Predator Accelerator, the ‘cleat of a generation’ in this ice white colorway. Performance wise, this is a completely new type of performance boot. adidas has perfectly blended the classic past of the adidas Predator silo with updated modern innovation. Special CR7 Boots Campeoes

No. 1 – Nike Mercurial CR7 Campeoes

Released: June
Limited To: Created specifically for CR7 only.

Details: When it comes to creating custom boots for Cristiano Ronaldo, Nike need little reason to release new pairs. And there have been plenty this year! The highlight came in June with CR7 Mercurial Campeoes, a boot released in celebration of Portugal’s Euro 2016 championship. The boots feature Portugal’s signature Red and Green team colors, flip them over and you will find a golden soleplate added to upgrade the color effect. A unique heel counter and sockliner further celebrate Ronaldo’s national pride. [more details]
