We have already tested the Nike Superfly III, but since the latest two-tone CR7 edition just arrived in the door, I thought it would be worth highlighting them in a picture summary!

This is the 2rd Cristiano Ronaldo inspired colorway in the Superfly III range, with the previous black-on-black Safari (that we tested and reviewed) hitting the market early last year. We also tested the Nike Vapor VII in this same CR7 colorway, for those that want to see how they look or read the review! And I am sure there are some wondering what we are going to do with these boots now…..well, if you like this post and leave a comment below, you might be one of the first to find out!

The Nike Superfly III CR retails right now for $339.99.

Along with the release of the Superfly III CR7, Nike has added the new CR7 design to the Vapor series, by creating the Vapor VII CR7 (3). In similar fashion to the Superfly, this is the second Cristiano Ronaldo inspired design to hit the Vapor VII range. What makes this boot unique is that it features two completely different designs on either side of the boot!

The left half has a crazy striped configuration that infuses Mach blue and Solar red colors, while the right half features a monotone silver criss-cross pattern. It is the same effect on both shoes, so basically the outside of either boot features opposite designs! Again with all CR7 releases, you are either going to love them or hate them – there is no in between!

I regularly find myself recommending the Vapor series to players as a top option, and a much more economical option over the Superfly. And lets, be honest, not everyone can afford to splash out $400 on a new boot. You don’t get Flywire technology or the adaptive stud, but you do get a Teijen Microfiber upper matched with a Tepex glass composite chassis that allows for a lightweight boot. The Vapor VII comes in at a tasty 8oz.

Nike continue their tradition of releasing top rated boots with the Vapor VII. On release, many fans criticized the fact Nike had created little to no updates. I have found that the minor updates Nike made only created a more defined cleat that competes at the top of the market. The one exciting thing about the Vapor VII is that it suits all players on the field, something that can’t be said about the majority of lightweight releases on the market. Nike use a very well constructed upper that offers protection, while also giving you a lightweight feel. In terms of size, I found that the Vapor VII offers a very suitable option for wide fitting players. Many players suffer problems around the mid area of the soleplate, but Nike offer a nice wide fit to accommodate most players. Ordering true to size is the way to go!

The Vapor VII CR (3) will retail for $200.

The latest installment in the CR7 series of Nike boots has arrived, and it continues the trend of visually entertaining releases to match the playing style of Cristiano Ronaldo! What makes this Nike Superfly III CR7 (3) release so different is that they feature a completely different design on either side of the boot.

The naming convention on this one is pretty confusing and is something worth tackling right off the bat, seeing as this is the 2nd CR7 release in the Nike Superfly III range. It should probably be labelled the Nike Superfly III CR7 Edition 2, but for the sake of clarity I refer to it as the Nike Superfly III CR7 (3), or the third CR7 release. My point here is not to mix it with the previous release that was the Nike Superfly III CR7. The initial polka-dot style release was called the Nike CR7 Safari.

As for the the Superfly III as a boot, it offers a tidy package but at a pretty high-end price. The two advancements featured are the use of Flywire, and the adjustable studs towards the toe. Flywire is designed to act like the support cables on a bridge by taking and holding the majority of the weight of the upper. This, in turn, allows Nike to decrease the required materials and produce a lighter boot. The adaptive studs offer a very contentious addition to the boot. In theory, the studs have the ability to dig into a firm natural surface as you put your pressure down on the sole. It is something that is very difficult to actually see in action primarily because the boot needs to be in contact with a surface as you put your full weight down.

Falling in-line with prior releases, this Metallic Mech Blue/Solar Red/Dark Obsidian colorway is set to retail for $399 at Soccer.com.

Since their release, the new colorway(officially named as an Orange/Black/Volt/Silver) has got mass attention and is sure to be a top seller for Nike as we head into the Fall season. During testing, I liked how the Superfly III performed, as they offer a well-protected, lightweight feel and are effective on the ball.

If you are looking for something a little more affordable than the Superfly, you can get the Orange Peel colorway in the Vapor VII ($179), Miracle ($125) and Glide ($85) series.

The biggest battle of course will be the Messi vs Ronaldo battle. Not only is there hot debate on which player is actually better, but both wear different footwear – Messi/Adidas F50 adiZero and Ronaldo/Nike Superfly Safari.

Nike have just released the latest boot designed for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo – the CR Mercurial Vapor Superfly III.

After mixed success with the initial Superfly Safari release, I have a feeling that this design is going to receive a much more positive reaction. The print is still Safari, but this time around it is a more subtle black-on-black, and it has been reinvigorated on the second evolution of Cristiano Ronaldo’s boot, wrapping the entire boot and laces for a bold blacked-out effect. I personally like this version a lot more than the original Safari release, with the black on black adding a subtle yet modern look.

A very distinctive volt green geometric pattern on the heel and trademark swoosh wrapping the forefoot gives the boot a highly visual appearance. And just in case anyone is confused, you are getting the same boot and performance level as the Superfly III that was recently released – just with a different design.

To add even more hype to the game, Cristiano Ronaldo will debut the CR Mercurial Vapor SuperFly III during the “El Clasico” battle with Barcelona on Saturday, April 16th! What a game that is going to be.

The Nike CR7 Safari soccer cleat, designed and worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, is now available to buy in the US. Opinions have been completely mixed on the new Nike release over the past few weeks, with nobody totally sure what to think of the polka-dot design. The vast majority if comments were pretty negative towards the CR7 Safari shortly after release, but it seems that since that time, a number of people have warmed to how they actually look on the field. My thought have not changed on the release and how they look, although I am again heavily impressed with how Nike have created a storm of media attention around the new soccer cleat!

If you are on the market for a pair, here is what you are choosing between:

Vapor Superfly II – Top of the range and the most expensive to boot, designed using Superfly technology as well as a retractable front stud. Nike also use a visually enhanced pattern along the side of the boot, as seen in the image above. Each pair comes with an exclusive shoe bag and box. Weigh in at 7.6oz. Priced around $400.

Mercurial Vapor VI – My preferred choice in the range, primarily because of the comfort and performance they offer. Dawoo Synthetic lace cover create a large, inviting strike zone. Dual density injected studs and a new Vapor Traction pattern allows effortless cutting and instant acceleration. and weighs in at 8oz. Priced around $240.

Mercurial Miracle – If you want value for money, you can’t really beat what the Miracle. The have a very similar look to the Superfly. The newest innovation is the separated heel island constructed on glass fiber, with a stud system similar to the Mercurial Vapor. Weigh in at 8.5oz. Priced around $125.

Lunar Gato – Designed specifically for indoor surfaces, you can also sport these as an everyday sneaker – if you are brave enough! Features lightweight, springy cushioning and excellent impact protection for intense, small-sided games on hard surfaces. Priced around $85
