Robbie Keane in Nike Total 90 Laser II Celebrating

After our recent article discussing Robbie Keane’s move back to Tottenham Hotspurs, he had Irish eyes smiling by scoring two goals in a key World Cup Qualifier. After going 1-0 down to Georgia in the first minute of the game, Ireland left the goals until late on, with Keane bagging both. His first was came from the penalty spot, after the referee gave a dodgy penalty with only 15 minutes left. His second was a diving header five minutes later. Ireland who have a reputation for conceding late goals held on for a victory that sees them draw level with group leaders Italy.

Robbie Keane returns to Spurs

Following in the footsteps of Jermain Defoe and Pascal Chimbonda, Robbie Keane made his second debut for Totthenham Hotspurs. And although it did not have a fairytale ending , Spurs still claimed a point against local rivals Arsenal and the Spurs fans will no doubt have been happy to see Keano’s return! It has been a topsy turvy year for the Irish man that saw him move from White Heart lane to the team he followed as a kid, Liverpool. After winning the Carling Cup with spurs, it seemed like the next best step. But, as it turns out, captaining a very talented Spurs team is where he belongs!

Keane wears the Nike Total90 Laser II FG – White/Black/Blue Sapphire. These cleats are designed for those looking for stability, fit, traction ball control and shooting accuracy. The Strike II is priced under $100. The main difference between the cleats is the leather used, and the weight difference. In fact, the Strike II cleats are lighter! Overall, you are not losing too much quality with the Strike II. In terms of looks, the cleats are very similar. The Strike two colorway is a little darker, but not that much more noticable.

Wayne Rooney came on as a late substitute and got on the scoresheet with two goals wearing his Nike Total90 Laser II FG Varsity Red/Metallic Silver/Team Red.

Ryan Giggs also starred in game, getting 3 assists. Giggs, a long long time Reebok wearer, had the Reebok Sprintfit Pro II MS – White/Red/Silver on. Sir Alex Ferguson commented after the game about his respect for Japenese soccer, and also discussed his readiness for Sundays game against Ecuadorian club LDU Quito.

Puma v-Konstrukt III

Vidic recently started wearing the New Puma v-Konstrukt III. There is much advancement in these cleats including a redesigned boot lace cover system. The system is unique as it has a type of elastic cord that keeps the tongue held down. A TPU injected external heel counter with foot embracing support create a ‘Save Cage’ against outer forces to protect and prevent injury, whilst offering support and stability. To help with touch and control, Puma have created a new front design with padding around the shooting area. This is positioned to help with control and impact when striking the ball.
The v-Konstrukt II are available in the UK right now, while release of the v-Konstrukt III will be in January. The v-Konstrukt II – New Navy/Team Gold/White is also currently available in the US.

Lescott and Bernard Mendy both wear Nike Nike Total90 Laser II. Nike developed these cleats with swerve, power and precision in mind. Their focus was on developing a shooting sweet spot, and hence the front design of the cleat. Known as Shotshield technology, Nike placed rubber zonal rings on the strike zone with direct injected rubber. The circular pattern is designed to help player shape shots and control the ball. Inside the cleat there is eVent membrane, which helps keep feet dry. Wayne Rooney also wears these cleats.

Abdoulaye Faye has worn several different types of cleats this season including Adidas Predators, Nike Mercurial Vapors and most recently Adidas adiPURE TRX in master blue/white. Ledley King Scores

Ledley King scored a key goal for Spurs in his white Adidas Predator Powerswerve. Predators have been legendary since the Premier League’s creation in the 90’s. This version has two major advantages over other boots; Powerswerve impact and Powerpulse. Powerswerve allows a player to add swerve to the ball by using a rubber interface, allowing for extra control on contact with the ball. Powerpulse is the insole insert that has Tungsten powder filled elements. These shift as you swing into the ball adding extra power and increased flexibility.
