Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly Orion Blue/Metallic Silver/Obsidian

This has to be one of the strangest color combo’s I have seen on a cleat in a while! The newest color version of the Nike Vapor Superfly in an Orion Blue/Metallic Silver/Obsidian/Max Orange color has been released on the US market.

All the cleats in the Superfly range have a two color tone, and this latest release has an Orion Blue base with a darker Black second tone. The swoosh comes in a metallic silver tone. When I first saw these cleats they were my least favorite thus far in the range, but the more I look them the more they grow on me. I have a feeling that this version will not sell out as quickly as the previous versions of the Superfly, but as with all the cleats in the Superfly range, they will be big sellers! The last release in the range, Black/Voltage Yellow, came via Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Real Madrid star is sure to be one the first to debut the current color.

Nike Mercurial Vapor Berry Still Available!

It’s true! The ever popular, top selling, extremely funky looking Nike Mercurial Vapor Berry(or as it really is, ‘Pink’) is still available to buy at one online store….eBay! Yes that’s right, eBay. We get daily requests on how to get a pair of the impossible to get cleats and we redirect our request to one page.

The Nike Vapor IV Berry was released as a limited edition cleat during the 2008 Christmas season and quickly became a top seller, with a much higher demand than supply! Over the past few months there have been days when only one pair is available on eBay, and days when there are several. As of today(Aug 25th) there are 4 pairs available at varying prices. One thing to note is that the prices can get pretty high, although if you really want to get your hands on one of the last remaining pair of the limited edition Vapor Berry’s it is well worth it! The Nike Vapor Superfly Challenge: Which would you choose?

With the most anticipated cleat of the past few years back on the market in two colors, we want to know which version you like better! The Superfly is created using innovative Flywire technology to create one of the lightest soccer cleats available on the market, 6.8oz of pure speed! The Superfly was taken off the market just before its initial release, as Nike found some problems with the cleats design. But now it has been released in two colorways. Cristiano Ronaldo will be wearing the Black version for the start of the Spanish La Liga season, while many other top players like Nani will be sporting the Metallic Platinum version. All we want to know is which version do you like better, the bright colored Platinum version, or the dark classic black look? Feel free to also leave us your comments why below.

After several months of revamping, Nike have finally announced that they are ready to re-release the highly sought after Mercurial Vapor Superfly. In late April, we announced that Nike had pulled the Superfly before it was released to the market after flaws were found in the cleats design. Player’s reported ripping in the cleats as they played in games. As a precaution, Nike pulled the cleats from the market in order to retest the cleats. It was a bold move by Nike, as they were announcing that the cleats had a problem. Over the past few months, Nike has modified and improved the cleat by increasing the Teijin synthetic material used in the vulnerable areas. And now the cleats are finally ready to hit the US market in the Metallic Platinum/Hot Red/Max Orange color, and are currently available for preorder for $349.99. This version of the Superfly is sure to sell out fast, as they are sure to be in demand, if you are looking to get a pair do so before they sell out.

As another point of interest, I can reveal that in August, Nike are set to release a Black /Voltage Yellow color in the Superfly range. This design is Nike going back to the classic look, and after so many colorful displays, the Black/Yellow design is quiet refreshing. All of the same featured technology resides in the Superfly as before. It will be available by August 1st, just in time for the start of next season, but you can Preorder them right now for $349.99.

The newest color release in the Nike Mercurial Vapor V range is finally available to purchase. Nike has already released two pair in the range,(Orange/Abyss, Abyss/White) but the current Platinum Red is sure to be one of the best sellers. Prior to release, the Platinum/Red was being touted as the hottest seller in the range, although it does have it critics who want to see a shift toward the more classis colors. I have to agree with those who want to see a switch back to the more original black soccer cleat, but I cannot argue with the fact that these cleats will appeal to a mass audience of soccer players.

Nike Mercurial Vapor V Platinum/Red

As we head into the summer months, and the end of most European Leagues, soccer anxiety starts to set in! I am already waiting for the new season to start, and feeling the pain of life without soccer. Well, Nike are helping to ease that pain by releasing the newest version of the Vapor Mercurial V cleats in a Platinum/Red design! I have to admit that this is the most refreshing version yet released in the range. I like the silver base combined with the usual Nike Strike, this time in a red color. It might be a little shiny to some people, but I prefer it to the past two versions.

Again, Nike has created this cleat using their much heralded Flywire system, allowing for a much lighter and durable cleat. The cleat will be released in the US by late June, with many saying this will be the highest selling cleat in the range. One thing that might improve sales is the fact that the cleat will be primed for the start of the new season! Nike have yet to release information about the Superfly, and whether/if this colorway will be available in the more expensive range. Watch out for more info on the Vapor V Platinum/Red release date!

They have arrived! Nike have finally released the Nike Mercurial Vapor V in the Abyss/Max Orange/white colorway. This si the second release in the Vapor V range after the successful launch of the Max Orange/Abyss/Metallic Silver. With the Superfly yet to have a relaunch date, the Vapor V range is sure to be a popular seller, and unlike its predecessor, this colorway has received a much better review from Vapor V fans! It is available for $219.99 (don’t forget to check out our coupon page before buying).

So, we have been asked the question more than a few times ‘what is the difference between the cleats in the Nike Vapor V range?” So, we decided it might be time to give you the low down on exactly what you are getting for your dollar!

Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly:
The Superfly is the cream of the crop, the ‘piece de resistance’ in Nike’s range. Coming in at an extremely high $349.99, the Superfly is a cleat that you have to be certain is right for you before you splash the cash. The Superfly is seen as the next generation in soccer cleats because of its unique design. Nike has used a FlyWire system that wraps across the top of the cleat creating a stabilization effect. The FlyWire joins at the top and has the same properties as a suspension bridge. Nike have used lighter upper material in the boots thanks to the FlyWire, allowing the cleats to weigh a mere 6.8oz. It made its debut recently, worn by two of Europes biggest stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimowich, and these are the types of players you will see wearing the Superfly. The Superfly has currently been recalled, and will not available to purchase for another few months, there has not been a date set yet.
UPDATE: The Superfly is set for re release, and is now available in Metallic Platinum/Hot Red/Max Orange for $349.99.

Nike Mercurial Vapor V
The Vapor V plays little brother to the Superfly, but in terms of quality and demand it ranks just as high. Priced at the lower price of $219.99(also $219.99 in women’s), the Vapor V is still an expensive cleat to purchase if you do not have prior experience with the range. The Vapor V also uses Flywire technology to allow for a lighter cleat that weighs 8.4oz. What is unique about these cleats is the lace cover, increasing the strike zone for better contact when striking the ball. This new Vapor also has an extra stud on the outsole for increased surface traction. Cristiano Ronaldo, Pato and Robinho were all involved in the process of creating this cleat, but you are not likely to see them wearing them. If you want the quality but don’t want to fork out over $300 on cleats, these are a much better option.

Nike Mercurial Talaria
The Talaria is the knock off version of the Superfly. Designed to look similar, the Talaria is considerably cheaper at $99.99, although this means you will lose a lot of the quality. The Talaria does not have any Flywire technology, but Nike has still been able to create a light cleat using a lightweight Teijin synthetic leather. The cleats weigh 9.4oz. The Talaria does look considerably like the Superfly, with the swoosh and color matching the same design. The only small difference is that the swoosh is a lot smaller on the Talaria. But who could argue with a quality cleat that’s priced under $100. We rate the Talaria as a quality boot for money spent.

Nike Mercurial Steam
The Steam is a cleat that will have you looking like you are wearing the Vapor V, but not the feel! The Steam is designed with a front lace cover system to help increase the strike zone just as the Vapor V. Using synthetic leather, you are losing some of the quality associated with its older versions, although it weighs in nicely at 9.4oz. Don’t expect to see many top name players wearing the Steam, in fact I would be surprised to see any professional player wearing them! But if you are new to soccer, or just need a quality boot that delivers comfort and a little bit of style these are the cleats for you! Priced at $74.99.

Nike Mercurial Vapor Veloci
The Veloci comes in as the baby of the collection. Priced at $49.99 and weighing 9.4oz, the Veloci can be viewed as a good practice cleat, especially if you play on a consistent basis. Made with synthetic leather, the look of the Veloici is similar to the Superfly and Talaria, but there are some big differences, like the lack of ridges where the Flywire lines the side of the Superfly. One of the benefits of buyinf the Veloci is that you get to test out the style and feel of the range without paying the big bucks. If you are new to soccer and need a pair of cleats to wear for practice, these are a great option. Even better, if you play in wet mucky conditions you can tell your friends you are wearing the Superfly without them really knowing!

New Colorway in the Nike Mercurial Vapor V range

Nike are getting ready to launch the new colorway in their Vapor V range. It only seems like last week that we were talking about the Champions League debut of the Superfly, but Nike don’t rest! After releasing several ‘wild’ colored cleats (neon green, berry, red) Nike have moved towards a more subtle yet slick Abyss/White color. The Mercurial Vapor V range has been designed with many unique innovations, like for example the FlyWire design that leaves the cleat lighter on the foot. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovich are sure to be testing the cleats in the coming weeks, while debuting them in their respective leagues.

This launch of the new colorway is set for May 1st 2009. The boot will be available for pre-ordered from April 1st 2009, while players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovich are sure to be testing the cleats in the coming weeks, and debuting them in their respective leagues.
