We wanted to offer our friends at Uhlsport a big congratulations on having a World Cup goalkeeper in their ranks! Even though Pepe Reina did not start for Spain, he was probably the best back-up goalkeeper at the World Cup and could have started for pretty much any other country. Uhlsport can also be proud of the fact that more goalkeepers at the World Cup were wearing Uhlsport than any other brand with a total of 27 keepers (2nd was Nike with 19). Uhlsport Heavily Represented at World Cup

If you are a goalkeeper, you are probably pretty familiar with Uhlsport. Over the past few months, we have covered some Uhlsport products including the extremely useful Kickschuh Instinckt soccer cleat, designed for both goalkeepers and outfield players. Well, the German giants have ensured they will be highly prominent at the upcoming World Cup in South Africa. Some of the stars that will be wearing Uhlsport gear include French No.1 Hugo Lloris, Spain’s Pepe Reine and Germany’s Jorg Butt. Uhlsport Make Strides on US Market

Here is something you might have missed, a full range of Uhlsport soccer cleats that are available to the US market! I have to admit, I was not aware of this myself until Chivas USA goalkeeper Danny Kennedy passed their website along. Uhlsport are a bit of an unknown quantity when it comes to soccer in the US. But after checking their site out and finding some great looking boots, I am now more surprised than ever that they are not more readily available on the market. In fact, I was only aware of the company because of their popularity in the goalkeeping realm. As it turns out, Uhlsport has been in the US market since January 2008, and since then, their sales have jumped over 50% year-on-year, showing that the range has a lot to offer the market. It is also rumored that we will be seeing a lot more players wearing them this season in MLS. The company itself was founded in Germany back in 1948, and has a reputation for producing some of the best goalkeeper equipment on the market. But that’s not to say they don’t produce great gear for outfield players.

As an example, take a look at the below images of the Kickschuh Instinkt(left) and Kickschuh Performance(right). In my opinion, these are some decent looking boots, and to be honest, they look a lot better than some other cleats currently on the market. Performance wise I can’t comment, but as we speak I am in the process of getting my hands on a few pairs for testing. Reviews to follow!
