CR7’s Small Sided Boot Of Choice – MercurialX Proximo

Nike MercurialX Proximo II

Following up on our feature of Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest signature Superfly, we wanted to take a quick look at the IC version in the same range. Designed to be electrifying, the Nike MercurialX Proximo II takes speed to the court, providing players with the same explosive style in short-sided situations.

Underfoot, they feature recycled Nike Grind rubber on high abrasion and drag areas for enhanced durability. Coupled with a dynamic mid-cut collar, they are all designed to provide players with an “as-one” feel from leg through ankle and to provide the ultimate fit, touch and traction for specific styles of play. And in case you were wondering, the MercurialX carries an “X” as a nod to the combined number of players in a game of five-a-side.

The official colorway is listed as Seaweed/Metallic Silver/Volt/Racing Green, colors inspired by the team he was playing for when his career was kick started, Sporting Lisbon. The lateral side features silver dot graphics, as well as a subtle reflective wave design as a nod to the Mercurial Vapor I boots he wore in 2003.

The numbers 06, 08 and 03 (day, month, year) etched on the heel counter commemorate the date of his discovery, while a sparkling CR7 logo highlights the shining performance he delivered.

Retail wise, you can currently find them listed on sale for $140 at soccer.com.
