Custom “Dragon Style” Yamamoto adiZero f50 Released!

Real Madrid 3rd Kit Dragon

It was an interesting day in Madrid yesterday, as Real Madrid and adidas launched a striking new kit designed by Japanese designer and long term adidas collaborator Yohji Yamamoto that the club will wear in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

The striking new all-black kit aims to unify the values of Madridismo focused on its two main elements, greatness and determination.  Both elements are represented by two mythical beasts which originate from the Eastern culture and are interlaced on the front of the shirt:

  • Dragon king symbolizes the greatness, glory and power of the club.
  • Dragon bird, an animal that is able to relive in the most hostile situations, represents the clubs resistance, determination and agility on its way to the victory.

The kit is sure to look pretty slick in action this season, but for us the even more impressive part was the latest limited edition Yohji Yamamoto adiZero F50 boot also released. Following last years successful launch of the custom Yamamoto adizero f50 boot, which drew inspiration from Japanese imperial lion-dogs, these new boots come in a striking blue and green colorway. Each boot gets its own color and unique visual appearance. The traditional design has been placed in the context of Japan’s modern sci-fi culture creating a spiritual connection between the past and the future.

In order to create the finished article, adidas actually use the same model of adiZero F50 that is worn by Lionel Messi. In other words, this is the version of the boot that doesn’t feature SpeedFoil around the heel region or DribbleTex along the forefoot. Instead, the forefoot has a smooth leather like feel and the entire boot is built as a one-piece design.

For those interested in picking up one of the limited edition pairs, you can currently find them listed on for $299.99.
