adidas has just dropped a new way to get your hands on a stylish, traditional, top quality boot for under $100. Welcome in the adidas Copa Kapitan.
This is one of those releases that slipped in under the radar, with no fireworks or large marketing campaign to showcase its introduction. They are designed for players on a budget who still crave that superior and other-worldly touch, control and feel you get with the classic Copas. adidas use a soft kangaroo leather vamp that utilizes stitching for a locked in fit and added stability. Visually, they are very simple, there is nothing complicated about them. With an ankle cut tongue and a sleek black and white style, you get a boot that is focused more on its performance than just its looks. That, in turn, matches the type of players they are designed for.
Some might be wondering how these compare against the Copa Gloro, which retails for $100. Does the $10 difference mean a whole lot? Well, yes and no. It simply depends on what your needs are. You still get a classy styling (and that fold over tongue) on the Copa Gloro. But, the upper is actually a premium Contacto-calf skin leather. So, the Copa Kapitan will be where you need to go if a K-leather upper is high on your wish list.
Ultimately, these have the makings of an excellent release that should have an immediate market. I can see a lot of coaches and Sunday league players looking at them as their next new boot. What could be better than a stylish Copa-esque release that drops in under the $100 mark?
