Over the past few months, you have probably seen us reference the adidas Copa Kapitan and its significance on the market as a true value for money option.
Well, adidas has upped the anti by dropping them in a glorious new White Gold colorway. By doing so, they have elevated the silo, providing players with a much more dynamic visual of what the boot represents. The fact that these are a k-leather boot listed for under $100 puts them in a very unique bracket. The upper is a soft kangaroo leather vamp that utilizes stitching for a locked in fit and added stability. It isn’t as supple as a top tier k-leather boot (like adidas Copa Mundial or Mizuno Morelia Neo) but it still offers a quality feel to the touch.
Size wise, consider going up a half size if you are going to order a pair. They feature a pretty snug, medium width fit that doesn’t leave much wiggle room. The additional half size will make a world of difference. I wore and tested these in a size 9US, but I’m confident that a 9.5US would have impacted how comfortable they felt on pitch.
The adidas Copa Kapitan is the type of boot that is designed for players on a budget who still crave that superior and other-worldly touch, control and feel you get with a classic K-leather boot. But note that in this new luxurious colorway, they don’t cut the standard as a referee boot. And your Dad will probably grimace when he sees them for the first time. Instead, they take on a whole new life as a fresh and dynamic, appealable option that traditional fans can get behind!

So, the forefoot is Kangaroo, what about the mid-foot, is that area leather too, or synthetic?
