adidas Release Special Edition X50 Flow.1 “Messi El Retorno”

This morning, adidas introduced a special edition release in the adidas X50 Flow.1 that celebrate “El Retorno” (The Return) of Leo Messi to adidas speed cleats. After an extended period in the Nemeziz, adidas has decided to treat the World’s greatest to a golden, retro inspired throwback.

This is a bold and fresh take that is inspired by the F30 boots that Messi wore 15 years ago. In terms of performance, adidas has taken the current X Ghosted silo and upgraded it to match Messi’s current specifications. They feature his preferred laceless styling and plenty of personalized touches to create a signature look.

We talked last week about the rumor or adidas retiring the current Nemeziz silo, this release is further evidence that they are ready to freshen things up. Messi returning to what is a speed focused cleat is a very smart move! The whole agility factor that came into play with the Nemeziz never made a lot of sense from a marketing perspective, and it allowed the Nike Mercurial range to become a far bigger seller.

These are the boots that Messi is set to wear at Copa America, starting 13 June.
