Finally, the Limited Edition Bob Marley version of the Puma evoSpeed 1 is available to buy here in the US! Eagle-eyed boot fanatics have probably spotted these released elsewhere in the World, but there seemed to be a slight time delay before arriving here. There is a very iconic look to this one off release, with a lightly screened image of Bob Marley surfacing on the outer side of the full-flavored and Jamaican inspired upper.
If you don’t know who Bob Marley is, you might want to think about re-inventing your music taste!! The legendary Jamaican is the most renowned Reggae artist of all time and he was also an avid soccer fan. This boot is actually a collaboration between Puma and Bob Marley’s daughter, Cedella Marley. Cedella, who is a fashion designer, was actually responsible for creating Jamaica’s Olympic team uniforms this past Summer.
In terms of retail, since they are a Limited Edition release they run slight more expensive than a a regular evoSpeed – clocking in at the $224.99 mark.
We have seen some extraordinary limited edition releases in recent times, from the Puma Kehinde Wiley to the Nike GS and Pele Trinity SheOne. Puma has become market leaders in creating celebratory designer boots – these definitely sit amongst the more unique versions we have seen.
Weighing in at 6.3oz, the evoSpeed 1 is all about speed and acceleration, The upper is made of a thin monolayer microfiber upper that features a dot-pattern along the forefoot for added control benefits, while stability is provided by the internal EverFit cage. The anatomically engineered lightweight one-piece outsole provides stability and support, utilizing high-tech materials to minimize weight and to maximize its flexibility and reactivity.
One area of real interest is the soleplate and stud configuration. Puma has removed all carbon fiber materials and gone for a TPU outsole instead. mixed with a completely different stud configuration to that of the V series, and it makes for interesting results.
