There have been a lot of rumors circulating in recent weeks about a new, custom Adidas F50 adiZero that are set to be released. Official details on the boots have been kept very much under wraps by Adidas, although we did get a first glimpse of them in action this morning when Archie Thompson (Melbourne Victory) took to training wearing a pair earlier today.
Taking one look at the design, you might notice it offers distinct similarities to a F50 TUNiT series released a few years back. Those boots were conceptualized by Yohji Yamamoto and caught on really well. With only a limited number released, finding a pair now is pretty much impossible. So, it will be interesting to see what Adidas decides to do with this one and if in fact they are another official F50 Yamamoto release.
Up close, the forefoot of the boot features a print that looks like a mix of lion and a dragon, with the lateral side exposing a peeled back, mechanical beast. It is incredibly wild and very unpredictable. The soleplate is coated with a Sun Yellow colorway that easily meshes with the colors used through the upper. To cap off the look, a layer of snarling teeth are added across the very tip of the boot.
What is even more unusual about this one is the fact that Archie Thompson has only recently swapped some Nike Vapors for the Adidas F50 adiZero range. The Australian star made a very controversial move only a few weeks back, having been a focal player in Nike’s advertising efforts in the Australian A-League.
There is sure to be more behind this story, so as we find out more details we will update. Most importantly – would you wear a pair if they were released to market?
Make sure to keep up with Archie on Twitter for info on his boots!
