Nike Mercurial Vapor X in Hyper Pink Released

Hyper Pink Vapor X

Earlier in the week, Nike introduced us to their new “Lightning Storm Pack“, a collection of boots that feature full on pastel designs. In typical Nike fashion, they highlighted the high-end boots in their collection through press release and jumped past the boots that most fans will be buying. Case in point this Hyper Pink version of the Mercurial Vapor X.

There is a history between pink and the Vapor series. We only need to look back at the introductory pink boot to the market and its extremely significant entrance to understand the role it played in changing the scope of colorway designs. Since that time, we have had several other Pink style designs, but it has been a while since the Vapor has been treated to the coating.

As is the case with the Nike Vapor X series, these boots are all about explosive speed. These FG boots deliverer high-speed control and lightweight explosiveness for players looking to get forward and into attack mode. From the glove-like fit to the Vapor traction pattern, every element is designed for elite-level play at top speeds.

The boot features an ultra-thin Teijin microfiber synthetic leather that conforms to the shape of your foot for a second-skin fit. You also get a built in tongue – or you could say it is tongue-less. Coupled with the, ultra-thin, microfiber upper that mimics the touch of a synthetic leather, Nike created a boot that provides a glove like fit thanks to a fully enclosed design. In order to make the tongue-less design work with lacing, a new lace eyelet pattern has been employed. Rather than a standard “in and out” design, Nike use a double eyelet cut for each directional change. In other words, your lace goes through one eyelet and inside the boot, then a separate eyelet is used to exit the boot.

Under the hood, Nike has gone with their Vapor traction pattern. It features direct-inject blades that dig and release quickly for exceptional traction in any direction. The forefoot grip zone, inspired by track spikes, provides toe-off traction for extra bursts of speed. A lightweight nylon chassis transfers energy directly to the cleats for enhanced responsiveness and stability as you change speeds and accelerate away.

Personally, I prefer the Vapor over the Superfly because it doesn’t feature a mid-cut collar. Having tested both, I’m all about that low ankle cut as it allows for quicker release and less friction between you and the boot through high speed direction changes. It reminds me of the Mercurial Vapor Berry, the very first ever pink soccer shoes in history. Not to mention Mercurial started it.
