“What The Mercurial” – Limited Edition Celebration of Speed

What the Mercurial featured
“What The Mercurial”. Do not adjust your screen; this is a real boot design that is set to officially be released in just a few days. Seriously though, just WOW! Nike has created this new limited edition game changer (3000 pairs worldwide) to celebrate the history of the Mercurial series.

What The Mercurial is a tribute to football’s ultimate and explosive speed boot. In total, there are 16 of the most distinctive and striking colorways from the entire line-up of Mercurial boots used. Individual slices are layered right across the upper, merging together in a block style to create on of the most iconic releases you will ever see.

Along the upper, you will iconic boots included such as the original R9 Mercurial (1998),  Safari Pack Vapor VI (2010) and BHM Superfly IV (2014). If you manage to secure a pair, they come in a just as colorful “What the Box” and inside you will find a detailed “What the Bootbag”, which is gloriously lined with a history timeline of Mercurial on the reverse side. Each piece adds an extra element of exclusivity to a release that is set a new statement in the world of soccer footwear.

Four past Mercurial logos are mashed up to create the logo on the heel tab and aglets. The left and right boots boast the same design, striped with iconic Mercurial colorways, while the sockliner showcases iconic Mercurial elements. In total, 18 colors from previous Mercurial iterations meld together into one Superfly boot — the most colors Nike has ever used in a football boot.

So, how do you get your hands on a pair? May 5th is the first day they will be available, exclusively through the Nike Football App.

Then it will be on to retail later this week, with soccer.com set to carry the largest number of pairs in the US.
