If you have been waiting for an updated version of the Nike Tiempo to arrive, it is almost here. This weekend, Nike treated us to an exclusive pair of their special edition Nike Tiempo Legend VII. Featuring a Black Platinum colorway, there are only 100 pairs of these boots worldwide, as Nike look to highlight the key features of their latest creation in the most simplistic form. We received pair #26 and they really are displayed perfectly to give us an intro look at the seventh generation release.
First thing to note here is that these boots were not released to market. No pairs were made available for retail so before you ask, you can’t purchase them. Instead, they are intended to provide a first hand look to influencers on what they have on offer. We are obviously grateful to Nike that they place us in that category. Along with the boots, a pretty awesome boot bag and a tech booklet that provides some further insight in the creation process are included.

The tech involved in this one is pretty serious, definitely drawing away from the classic conventions you’d normally expect to see on a Tiempo release. For the first time, Nike Flywire is used on a standard Tiempo Legend to create a locked in fit from heel through midfoot. Then, a proprietary 3D foam skeleton is covered in a premium k-leather to create a uniquely textured upper and a different type of touch on the ball. While a closed in tongue features another first – Flyknit – to really create an adaptive fit.
For Tiempo fans, the key talking point on this one will be durability, and how they hold up over time. This was an area where the previous version of the boot fell short, something Nike were well aware of. Immediately, there is a more dependable feel about the design, with the upper having a more rugged construction. Plus the lip around the tip of the boot sits slightly higher and tighter against the k-leather upper. Only time and testing will give us a proper answer, so we will obviously follow-up once we have a more accurate take.
Again, this is a special edition release that was limited to 100 pairs worldwide, and they are not available for retail. Early next week, Nike are set to introduce the Tiempo VII and that will be your first opportunity to experience a pair! Stay tuned for more details once they are officially released.
