Custom Kobe Bryant Tribute Boots Worn By Kenedy

With the memorial service for Kobe and Gigi Bryant taking place in a few days (Feb 24th), we wanted to highlight the incredible custom boots that Kenedy wore to honor him last weekend. Now playing with Getafe CF, Kenedy wore the one-of-a-kind Purple and Gold boots in their match with FC Barcelona, a pretty perfect game to do it in.

Visually, the design is striking are really pays homage to the greatness of Kobe. With most of the sporting world still in mourning over his tragic death, paying tribute to him in ways like this is a great show of respect. A lot of intricate detailing went into this design, something that is easily seen right across the upper. A signature Kobe graphic image sits on the outer side of the left boot, with a Kobe quote sitting on the outer side of the right boot. “If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail.” His signature KB logo sits proudly on the heel. A great design that is a fitting tribute to an iconic legend.

The boots themselves are a pair of laceless adidas X 19+, with the signature 3-stripe hidden underneath the signature purple and gold colors. Choosing the X19+ seems ideal for creating a look like this, with a much cleaner surface to be able to work with. On this latest version of X, adidas has incorporated a brand new material that they call X-Layskin. The actual construction is put into place thanks to a foam inner skeleton that is covered in a very thin upper film layer. That outer material features textured lines to add a little extra grip on the ball with the benefit of maximum feel thanks to the thin nature of the design.
