What is The Difference Between Nike Dream Speed 2 Boots?

Nike Mercurial Dream Speed #002

There has been a lot of talk about the second generation Nike Mercurial “Dream Speed” over the past week. The lemon yellow colorway has struck a positive cord with speed enthusiasts who want a boot that looks as fast as it sounds!

With new high-tenacity Flyknit yarn in play across the offer, this is a Mercurial that is softer and more form-fitting. Underfoot, Nike use an improved, more responsive soleplate for a higher energy return with each step. The upper is also finished with All Conditions Control (ACC) technology, making them an ideal option for fall to winter weather changes! They debut on pitch exclusively by Sam Kerr, Kylian Mbappé and Cristiano Ronaldo.

We wanted to take a look at the complete collection and give you a brief breakdown of what to expect from each level of Dream Speed. You can find all of these versions available right now at soccer.com.

Superfly Elite Dream Speed

Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Elite

Retail: $294.99

The version of the boot you will see Cristiano Ronaldo wearing. With new high-tenacity Flyknit yarn in play across the upper, this is a Mercurial that is softer and more form-fitting.

Vapor Elite Dream Speed

Nike Mercurial Vapor 13 Elite

Retail: $269.99

Performance wise, the Vapor performs very similarly to the Superfly, only without the dynamic fit collar in play. You still get a new high-tenacity Flyknit yarn across the upper, with a softer and more form-fitting fit. And underfoot, Nike use an improved, more responsive soleplate for a higher energy return with each step. Personally, I prefer the Vapor over the Superfly.

Superfly Pro Dream Speed

Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Pro

Retail: $159.99

Little brother of the Superfly Elite, you get a very similar looking boot at a much lower price point. A comfortable 1-piece lining wraps your foot and is covered in a continuous stretchy knit outer layer for a seamless, secure feel on the field. Underfoot, they features a Nike Aerotrak zone. Its angular studs grip the turf to give you explosive acceleration with every step.

Vapor Pro Dream Speed

Nike Mercurial Vapor 7 Pro

Retail: $139.99

Like the Superfly Pro, the Vapor Pro plays little brother to the top performing Vapor Elite. Visually you can see how Nike has slightly altered the ankle collar, raising the knit ever so slightly higher. As far as value for money mixed with performance goes, many would consider these to be the best option in the entire line-up.

Superfly Academy Dream Speed

Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Academy

Retail: $84.99

If you are on a budget but want to get in on the Dream Speed look, then the Academy version offers another option. Performance wise, these are are very much a skin and bones boot with a toned down dynamic fit collar and a much stiffer design. The upper is a simple Nike synthetic material, while the collar doesn’t provide the same dynamic fit found on the more elite models.
