World Cup 2010 Arrives in Style!

South Africa in Nike Elite
South Africa in Nike Elite

Today saw the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and one thing is for sure, the Nike Elite range is doing its job! The Mach Purple and Total Orange colorpattern is designed to allow other players to see you on the pitch. While watching the opening game between South Africa and Mexico all I could see was the boots! Both goals were also scored by players wearing the Nike Elite range. South Africa’s goal was scored by Siphiwe Tshabalala’s, who wears the Nike CTR360 Elite, and if you saw it you will know that they also offer power. What a goal that was!

But the presence of Adidas was also felt, with the Adidas F50 adizero being worn by South African Steven Pienaar, Tsepo Masilela and Lucas Thwala. In other news, I was extremely pleased to see Uruguay hold France to a 0-0 draw, although I do think Diego Forlan (and his Adidas adizero’s) could have stole all three points with the volley he skewed wide in the final ten minutes. And what is with Thierry Henry calling for a handball in the box? Very Ironic!
