Introducing the Nike Tiempo Legend VI – What You Need To Know!

Nike Tiempo Legend 6

A little earlier than expected, but Nike dropped the long awaited Tiempo Legend VI (or 6) release this morning. With a reputation for providing consistent and reliable performance, the Tiempo Legend has become a staple in the Nike range and it is the only prime boot not to feature a mid-cut collar version.

Like its predecessor, the Tiempo Legend V, this version has immediately garnered positive attention for its overall design with Nike keeping things simple yet sleek. There is obviously something unique going on with that defined upper. But what exactly does it have on offer and how does that play out compared to prior releases? Here is what you need to know about the new Tiempo legend VI boots.

Check the full line-up available at soccer.com.

Design of the Upper

Historically, Tiempo boots have featured a quilted leather toe box. For Tiempo Legend VI, Nike sat down and worked to provide the touch attributes of quilting, without extensively perforating the leather. The end result is a new boot that features an internal cushioned cage, which holds the overall shape and grooves the leather with substantially less stitching.

In other words, they are designed to deliver the feel of quilting, but without compromising the leather. The foam backer has been vacuum pressed to the leather to ensure a soft, seamless construction. Added to that is the fact eliminating quilting reduces the possibility of mud or water seeping in through the quilt lines, something that can actually harden the leather over time.

Lockdown Feel and Fit

Another iconic element of the Tiempo is the tongue. Nike has also taken a modern approach on this one. Tiempo Legend 6 retains the silhouette’s traditional tongue aesthetic while moving to a protective, affixed one-piece solution that is integrated into the laces. This is sure to create a more locked down fit through wear.

Added to that, the boot features an internal mid-foot cage, molded heel and microfiber sockliner to help keep the foot in place. The sockliner also has traction on its underside that aligns with silicon pods on the base of the boot, part of Tiempo Legend 6’s plate-to-sockliner, sockliner-to-sock traction system. The medial side of the boot is slightly higher than the lateral, to align with the anatomy of the ankle. This detail is noted by a small Swoosh inside the medial side.

The heel counter of the Tiempo is designed for ultimate lockdown comfort. As a nod to the boot’s heritage, “Tiempo” is written boldly across the back of the heel. The primary Swooshes on the boot nearly wraparound, but do not touch. The upper is premium leather, noted by a small emblem where the leather meets the heel counter, and features All Conditions Control (ACC).

Crafted For Perfect Touch

For over 20 years, Tiempo has been synonymous with premium leather football boots. The new Tiempo Legend 6 builds upon that legacy with innovative craftsmanship for dominant touch. Nike Football Designer Vianney de Montgolfier put it perfectly when he stated that:

Tiempo players start the attack. We prioritize the touch and precision they depend on. With Tiempo Legend 6, we challenged ourselves to work with legendary materials in a new way.

We’ve been talking about these for a while, and they are released hot on the heels of our Nike Tiempo Legend V – From Introduction to Electro Flare feature. Everything about them looks crisp – we are very excited to get these in to testing to see exactly what they have on offer performance wise. Stay tuned for more details.

In terms of retail, you will be able to pre-order via the Nike App on November 29th. They hit retail on December 1st, where you will be able to order them for delivery from Soccer.com.
