This limited edition DTOM Black/White/Challenge Red version of the Nike Mercurial Talaria is pretty sweet! Clint Dempsey has become the poster boy for US soccer over the past 2 years. His performances for the US national team, along with the fact he establishing himself in Fulham’s first team, has allowed Nike a platform in which to showcase their top line ranges. And with that, Nike created a unique ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ Nike Mercurial Superfly cleat for Clint to wear. You might remember seeing Clint wearing this Black/White/Challenge Red version back in August against Mexico, or that he wore against Hondurus at Soldier Field in Chicago. Well, now there is an opportunity to get your hands on a DTOM limited edition version of the Nike Mercurial Talaria V’s.
So, whats so special about these cleats? The Talaria DTOM are unique as they feature a coiled snake on the heel, the snake being the emblem to go with the “Don’t tread on me” motto that the US Men’s National team used as their mission statement for the 2006 World Cup. One thing to keep in mind, you are not getting the total quality that you get with the Vapor V orSuperfly range, but lets be honest, the Talaria is a pretty rocking cleat on its own! They weigh in at steady 9.2oz, and Lightweight Teijin synthetic leather. The only real difference is that they don’t sport the Flywire technology. And a bonus is the fact that the Talaria is the younger brother of the Superfly, meaning it has a distinctly similar look to the $300 cleats. In my opinion,$100 is well worth the money for a pair of these! And with less than 3 weeks to Christmas, they would be a welcome addition underneath my Christmas tree! (hint, hint)
