Nike has decided to celebrate the achievements of their star asset, Cristiano Ronaldo, with two bold new Mercurial Superfly designs. If they look familiar to you, it is because they take cues from two of Ronaldo’s favorite Mercurial Vapor 3 designs.
In similar fashion to those boots, Nike has added a lightly colored back heel design for some extra pop. What sets these apart is the placement of the CR7 logo and of course that heathered Dynamic Fit Collar.
The Superfly CR7 324K Gold celebrates Ronaldo’s ascension as his club’s all-time leading scorer with 324 goals.
The Superfly CR7 Quinhentos commemorates Cristiano Ronaldo surpassing 500 career goals.
Performance wise, there isn’t anything new or different compared to the standard Superfly release. Everything is built specifically for speed. With a dynamic mid-cut collar that locks down the player in sprint mode, a micro-textured Nike Flyknit upper that provides a barefoot-like feel, and a highly responsive carbon-fiber plate designed to further provide explosive speed in all directions, this is about as advanced as we have ever seen a boot go.
In terms of availability, and here is where things get interesting. Both are set for release in 2016, which means we are seeing these well in advance of any availability. The 324K Gold will be available in January and the Quinhentos in March. Both will be featured exclusively on the Nike Football App.
The big question is how these fans will respond to the simplicity of these releases. Yes, they have a reminiscent feel that corrolates with some of the most popular Nike Vapor boots released. Are you guys likely to seek out a pair of these? Or better yet, is there one of the two colorways you prefer more?
