Up Close – Detailing the Nike Superfly “Radiant Reveal”

As part of the Radiant Reveal pack, this latest Nike Mercurial Superfly colorway features a visual profile that allows them to truly stand out. The one thing we have learned about the Radiant Reveal pack to date is its all about bright lights with faded detailing. Here, it is a White base that is highlighted by off-Pink stripes that circumnavigate right around the upper. The effect transitions from heel to toe of the boot, with darker shade running along the forefoot.

One of the key features of the Mercurial Superfly is Flyknit. Adding to the concept of color, Nike has used multi-color material through the lacing area. An Yellow-Orange-Pink knit material is interwoven and faded together for full effect. Again, it is the implementation of light and color that makes this pack so special. The only question left then is what can be expected from a performance perspective?

Although I’m not a big fan of the Superfly series, other players rave about their performance. You get all the bells and whistles that you’d expect from a pair of premium Nike boots that are designed for explosive speed. With a dynamic fit collar that locks down the player at full speed, the micro-textured Nike Flyknit upper provides a barefoot-like feel that gets the foot closer to the ball and closer to the ground for increased control. A highly responsive carbon-fiber plate is designed to further provide explosive speed in all directions.

With a $275 price tag, the biggest question becomes “are they value for money?” The short and easy answer to that is how badly do you want a pair? It is tough to associate any boot at that price with the word value. Value is when you get two top-tier boots for the price of one! So, in that respect they are definitely not the boots you are going to want if you are on a budget. But they are one of the most advanced silos ever released to the market and they provide an extremely unique type of performance in game. From the fit to tech specs through the upper materials, you will feel extra special with a pair on your feet.
