There is a new boot brand in town, and they are doing things just a little differently to the mainstream market. Focused on providing players with a premium boot and an experience that you won’t get from your standard issue release, this is a packaged deal that adds a new zing and vigor to the elite level category!
Introducing the Unozero Modelo 1.0, a boot that oozes modern class and sophistication. Handmade in Italy, featuring a k-leather upper that is enhanced with strategically positioned stitching, and a translucent soleplate underfoot. These bring back fond memories of past adiPure releases. But, you are getting far more than just the boots here. Everything about the presentation, from how they are created to how they are packaged, takes things to an entirely new level. One of the first thing you will notice is the extreme attention to detail right throughout, with each piece seemingly well thought out and holding its own important purpose.
It all starts with the box. Outside, it is detailed with a leather print that gives you the first indication things are different here. If you hadn’t figured it out yet Unozero stands for 1 0 or more specifically the number 10, which is exactly what their signature logo represents. You will find it front and center of the heavily fortified boot box, with its unique front flip opening. Once you open the box, your eye is immediately drawn to the graphic on the underside of the lid, before switching rapidly to the tin of leather food and boot bag. The leather food is USA made and is a fantastic addition to go along with your k-leather boots.
But in order to get to your boots, you have to navigate what could be one of the most impressive soccer specific boot bags on the market. Unozero has created a bag that would be worthy of going alongside any pro players game day ritual. You know when pro players get off a bus carrying a cool dopp style kit bag? Well, we can categorize this as being the Messi dopp bag of the dopp bag world…..if there is such a thing! It is super classy, holds it shape, allows you to store muddy boots thanks to a protective inner wrap, and it is perfectly sized to allow for your guards to be tucked inside also.
Then you get to the actual boots, and they are extremely impressive in an elegant, old school/new age way. Unozero has created a boot that merges traditional styling with modern performance elements. They are handcrafted by seasoned shoemakers in Italy, who have meticulously pieced the super supple leather upper on to a contemporary soleplate. I think that is one of the more remarkable elements of this release; they are very well balance, creating that time-honored feel in a boot that looks like something you would want to wear any given Sunday!
But then you get to the actual price, and that is where things start to come together. Lets start by saying that these are not your budget friendly option, dropping in at a hefty $295. For some, that will prove to be a huge stumbling block and a valid reason never to own a pair. But, I feel like Unozero are targeting a different, very specific portion of the market that other brands haven’t managed to reach before. We are talking about the slightly more eccentric player, who has an emotional connection to what they do on and off the pitch, a larger budget to work with and a desire for an elite package you won’t get elsewhere.
I will be one of the first to tell you that the price here is extreme. You could easily pick up several top class boots on sale for that price. Having had the opportunity to actually experience the boots in person, I like the concept and can 100% appreciate how meticulously the brand has pieced everything together. Unboxing them was a special (somewhat unexpected) experience that I appreciated.
Stay tuned for more performance details and a deeper review of the boots themselves over the coming days.
