What better way to kick start the new year than with a new pair of boots! Sometimes a fresh pair can be just what the doctor ordered in getting back into game action, adding a little extra incentive to work harder on the pitch.
With that in mind, we wanted to take a look at some our top boot recommendations heading into 2019, taking into consideration some important staples like comfort and performance. To make it just a little more fun, we spiced things up by breaking things down into several key categories, giving you a wider variety of choices to look out for. It would be easy to just list a few top selling boots, this way we give you some options in case you want to grab something that matches your specific needs!
This is our list of the Best Soccer Boots To Kick Off 2019. And you guys are more than welcome to participate by adding your input. If there are any boots you’d add to a certain category, let us know in the comments below!
“BEST IN CLASS” – adidas Predator 18+
Price Range: $199.99 to $299.99
I’m going to be a little more specific with this one, guiding you right toward the Cold Mode version of the boot. This particular boot features PrimaLoft technology inside, designed to provide more insulation so your feet are kept nice and toasty on those cold winter months. If we were in Summer, my recommendation would be any colorway in the Predator 18+ line-up, but these add a little more value this time of the year, and we have firsthand experience that they actually do work.
“TOP NEWCOMER” – Nike Phantom Vision Elite
Price Range: $199.99 to $274.99
The PhantomVSN has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to its locked in Quadfit Mesh fit. Nike started out with what is essentially a “bootie”, or an internal sleeve that your foot slips into. The idea is that this allows the fit to conforms with most any foot. Quadfit is designed to contain the foot. It is a unique experience on a boot that is definitely worth checking out.
“MOST ADVANCED” – Puma FUTURE 2.1 NetFit
Price Range: $109.99 to $249.99
What could be better than being able to dictate your own fit using the laces of the boot? Where some brands have made laceless a big piece of their marketing strategy, Puma has gone the opposite direction by making the lacing a key focus. Depending on how crazy you want to get, you can create dramatically unique fits with the ability to specifically enhance tension in particular areas using the NetFit lacing system. And there have been several extremely sweet colorways released in the series to date, giving you some solid choices if you are considering a pair.
“SOMETHING DIFFERENT” – New Balance Tekela 1.0 Pro
Price Range: $89.99 to $199.99
If you haven’t heard, the Secret on New Balance is officially out! And the Tekela leads the line as a quality addition to the market. The New Balance Tekela is a boot “for the innovators who use speed and maneuverability to change the outcome of games.” It features a full foot micro fiber upper with dynamic kinetic stitch embroidered bands, a TPU outsole with inlayed nylon chassis and conical studs for 360 rotational traction and agility. They can talk the talk, but can they walk it? The answer is a resounding yes.
“MOST RECOMMENDED” – adidas X18.1
Price Range: $129.99 to $224.99
We are talking the laced rather than the laceless version of the boot here, with the ability to add a little extra tension across the midfoot making them a much more viable option for players. In fact, the X18.1 has quickly become my go to boot of choice when I need some reliable! The upper on the X18.1 is called a SpeedMesh, and it very unique. adidas has created an extremely lightweight material that provides second skin-like fit with a barefoot-like touch on the ball. The upper material is lightly perforated to create a little extra texturing, and it is then placed on a slightly thicker under layer for added durability.
“TOP QUALITY” – Mizuno Morelia Neo
Price Range: $229.99 to $289.99
When it comes to craftsmanship and innovation, they really don’t come better than the Mizuno Morelia Neo…..especially when “MIJ” is associated. “Made In Japan” basically means that the boots are handcrafted in Japan without stressing about how long it takes to piece them together. The Morelia Neo MIJ upper features an ultra thin, yet super soft, Kangaroo Leather that provides an ultra clean touch on the ball. That is the key feature of the boot, but one that makes them one of the more expensive on the market. If you can snag a pair, they are worth checking out!
“BEST VALUE” – adidas Copa Gloro 17.2
Price Range: $79.99 to $109.99
There is currently a 2019 version of this boot available on the market, but in all honesty they don’t perform anywhere as well as the 17 version. Since we have moved on from the 17 version, it actually means you have the opportunity to find really good deals on remaining pairs, making them an even better option. The design is simple, yet they are extremely effective on pitch. This is a boot for players that appreciate modern innovation but also the traditional styling that comes from one of the world’s biggest boot brands.
“PERFECT BACKUP” – adidas Nemeziz 17.1
Price Range: $99.99 to $224.99
In any situation, having an elite level pair of boots as your backup is the absolute goal. We all know there are times when a change-up is needed, so having a top performing is a real plus. As a 2017 model, there are still a ton of sizes available at ridiculous prices, we are talking $224.99 down to $99.99! And what could be better than having a model that was designed and worn by the GOAT!
“MOST WANTED” – Nike Hypervenom Phantom III Elite
Price Range: $169.99 to $249.99
Nike will be replacing the Hypervenom series pretty soon, so now is the time to stock up on pairs before they start to disappear. Rest assured that these are one of the best performing boots on the market right now, and they will be missed.
“BEST KEPT SECRET” – Nike Mercurial Vapor XII Pro
Price Range: $69.99 to $119.99
The final boot on the list, and with good reason. We actually covered this one in a post earlier this week that should give you a real indication of what they have on offer. Let’s just say that they are the best kept secret Nike has going right now!
